So I just watched Stargate....

So I just watched Stargate....

...and they seem pretty royally screwed. But I guess that's just the norm

I think that in SG1 it feels like a war now. With the snakes it really didn't feel like one all the time because of all the infighting and such. I like it, and I can't wait to see what they will come up with to beat those seemingly impenetrable shields.

They will call on the Inter-Galactic Order of Space Plumbers to deal with these nasty Space Toilets!

Oh, and no, I don't think Mitchel is trying to emulate O'Neal. Any of you ever watch Farscape? He acted exactly the same way in it, and even became just as dark and moody. And, besides, he doesn't have O'Neal's flair for poking fun at their opposition, nor does he even try to.

I have to disagree with you Amenstop. I feel that Mitchell seems a little too similar to O'Neal. Not exactly like O'Neal, but similar in character. He makes these little remarks at the worse possible times like O'Neal did. Like the time he tells the prior something about what his grandma used to say. He also has almost the exact same abilities as O'Neal did. He knows how to pilot, he has about the same rank O'Neal started with. IMO it would have made more sense if Carter was team leader since she is apart of the military and has just around the same experience as O'Neal did. I would happen to hope that we the writers don't try to make a romance between Mitchell and Carter either, because then it would really feel a little ridiculas.

Hopefully, Mitchell will receive a little more character development as the story goes on. As well as provide a little more insight on his background as well.

Mitchell does have his major differences, though, and I think you're overlooking them in a rush to find similarities. Are you going to find them? Hell yes. There's going to be similarities. But, considering the actor, you really can't dodge them.

One of the important differences is in what he says. Does he say comments at the worst possible time? Yes. Guess what? The actor's character in Farscape did the exact same thing. But, compare the actual style of delivering these comments. The two come across differently. And that's before you really get into his darker, more cynical side that pops up frequently. If anything, all they did was rename his Farscape character and port it into StarGate.

Well I can't comment on that since I've never watched Farscape.

Not that I'm trying to say that Browder's character is bad or anything, but the similarities with O'Neal are apparent. He may not be exactly like O'Neal in flare and all that jazz to his personality, but even Teal'c during an early episode in season 9 stated that he reminded him of O'Neal.

That in itself makes the character predictable at times.

mmmm yes.... they could last longer... but they need new characters.... maybe like an extended SG team... they need some SERIOUS military macho dudes.... like Kawalski..... have you ever noticed earth's fleet never stays above two ships for very long? or that thier ships seem to be blown to bits real fast? personnaly i think the size of the fleet should be stepped up... and from what i've read, the ori attacked 28 other galaxies.... thats a MASSIVE invasion.... so what if races from those other galaxies decided to seek aid?

personnaly i think atlantis will be big in a few seasons... SG-1 wont make season thirteen if not twelve... either that or it fails on season thirteen... a third spinoff will probably be made.... one set in the far future would be cool.... well, i anycase... the season premier was rather disapointing... but it looks to be turning to the bright side...

Well, actually, there's a practical reason as to why they don't build the ships that fast. Right now, we could probably build an entire fleet of them. But, in doing so, the public would immediately know that they've been lied to for years. The whole problem with building ships of that size is doing so in secret, and that means you really can't produce that many at once.

Stargay dosn't even compare to Battlestar Galactica, but if I ever lose cable I admit I would watch Stargay reruns on FOX.

And, of course, now we get the immature comments popping up. Well, this discussion appears to be over.

BSG owns all, imho.
My wife works as a playback artist on SG:SG1 and SG:A; its actually pretty funny, none of the people who work on the show like it or watch it.

I'm fairly new to gaming forums. I'm more familiar with stuff like the Yahoo Finance Message Boards for individual stocks (for example take a look at CNXT, a stock I unfortunately own). Seeing this post just reminded me of the kind of post you see from shorts bashing the stock or the longs looking to pump and dump. In reality it's kind of funny that in general you see a much higher level of maturity here than there.

BTW. I don't mean to single Azrune out. I've seen many fine posts from him. It's just the HAHHAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHHAAHHAAAAA!!!!!!!!! that so reminded me of Yahoo Finance Boards.

PS. I think BSG is the best, love SG1 and never cared much for SGA.
