Nival signs with TotalGaming.net

Etherlords gets digital distribution

http://www.gamedaily.com/news/?id=10944&

TotalGaming.net is Stardock's digital distribution network that Galactic Civilizations II uses as well as dozens of other games ranging from Take 2, Ubi Soft, Strategy First, and other developers.

Nival's popular titles including Etherlords, Etherlords II, and Evil Islands: Curse of the Lost Soul, will now be available on TotalGaming.net for only $10 (or 1 token if you are a TotalGaming.net subscriber).

"We are excited about our partnership with Stardock Corporation to deliver our products through their digital distribution channels," stated Anthony Jacobson, VP Marketing and Business Development of Nival Interactive. "As broadband internet connectivity proliferates, digital distribution will grow significantly, and finally our consumers can buy our games without leaving their homes."

Stardock recently launched it's Stardock Entertainment retail publishing unit with the intent to help bring a handful of promising independent games to retail.

Moreover, Stardock's TotalGaming.net has been increasingly picking up new titles which can be downloaded conveniently and reliably through Stardock Central which does not require any DRM-style copy protection ensuring players can play their games when they want, where they want, how they want.

This is great news for gamers. The revolution - err... evolution of the gaming industry look like it is starting to spread. It reminds me a quote from a Vorlan Ambassador that went "And so it begins...."

Good job SD!

I don't see in Totalgaming.net Etherlords 2
Well, Evil Island wasn't in Totalgaming.net days ago
All, i have to do is wait and see.

Great job SD and bring more devellopers in the anti-DRM crusade.

This is great news. Frankly there are a lot of really good games out there by smaller companies that cant get published for many reasons. This may FINALLY bring back some excitement to the industry. More and more I am simply downloading games these days (legally) as frankly I hate seeing that a game is out but my local stores dont have it yet or are not even carying it as they need shelf space for EA titles.

No Etherlords @ yet , nice game btw .
Also why not Heroes of Might and Magic 5 ? - it's a Nival game too ...

Etherlords is available and I hope to have Etherlords II up next week.

Heroes of Might and Magic is owned by Ubisoft, so we won't be getting that one.

I'm looking forward to Etherlords II, since I have the first one, but the second wasn't even released here in Brazil.

Go Stardock!

BTW: Silent Storm is also a Nival title. Any chances it will be released by you as well?

Not sure yet. The rights to that one may be owned by the publisher as well.

Nice one! I've played Etherlords II but can't find the original Etherlords here in Sweden. Will probably get it when it appears on Totalgaming.Net..

Back when it was released, I had to take a pass on Etherlords II because it had the Nasty DRM Program Which Is Not To Be Named. Now I'll have a chance to actually play it. Yay for Stardock! And a very big nyah-nyah to that other Star-something.

Really , will it be "GameF..." free? will StarDoc use it's on usual activation/protection and thats it ?

The Nival games just require Stardock Central and use our usual Secure Software Delivery system, that's it. No SF or other DRM. ;)

I've just seen Etherlords II for sale at TGN. However, I haven't been able to find anywhere the download size... and that matters for me, since I have "not-so-broad-band". It says there it requires about 2GB of HD space, but how much you actually download?

Thanks in advance...
