Things that are wrong

Things that are wrong

1.Races are all the same, robots Yor eat food, need entertainment etc.

2.No alien speech sound whatsoever(should be contionuous alien speech loop like in K.O.T.O.R.)

3.Too much symbolism, billions of people stacked in one ship?!? Tens of billions dead upon invasion?

4.Absolutely no correlation with researched invasion technologies and chosen invasion types with the view of the invasion.

5.Appaling view of space battles, ships just unrealistically glide in all directions, without any concern to the physics of motion and propulsion, rays go out of nowhere...and most of the views are useless anyway.

6.Non existant possibility of coordinated attack with allies, and missing options, poor AI, for example you give transport ships to allies with just one planet left to conquer and they just park it on their planet indefinetly.

7.You can't put ship in orbit of uninhabited planet to guard it against other colonizers...

and so on....

Oh, it's so temping.

As a[nother] software developer from a company who also handle all their own support and discussion forum traffic directly, I know just how irritating posts like this are. I also know how temping it is to tear into them, and frustrating knowing that I'm not allowed cos' I'm from the company.

So, Stardock - can I please, please, please tear into him on your behalf - no-one would know.

Nah, it's not worth - time to switch off. Let him listen to the sound of his own keyboard tapping away into the void.

bye now ...

Your computer sucks or has some other problem. Since the very first patch went out the door I've had 2 crashes. Ever.

Your ideas of basic gameplay (or "facts") are, quite frankly, things that I don't want in the game. What is basic to you is not to me, and apparently not the designers either.

Constant crashing? Maybe on yours, not on mine.

As for other games (like Empire at War or Hoemworld), if you like thier options and features more, then just play them. Demanding that every game have the same mechanics means that there is really only one game, with differant skins attached.

WHile there is nothing wrong with expressing your concerns or desires for the game, there are two things to remember.

1. When a choice must be made, the designer does his best, knowing they can't please everyone.

2. Insulting someone is the fastest way to turn them off to whatever you have to day, even if your idea is the best idea since graphics cards.

And Mechanicus: Great quote!

It is very rude and deceitful from you to quote me telling you are not using logic, and then not quoting two examples in which I back up this claim.

That was not the point of the post. If the point was to comment on how logic can be used to see the points you are making then I would have added the two examples. But the objective of my post was to comment on the fact that you called other peoples posts irrelevant, so I didn't. And I don't quite see how that was "deceitful", or even rude. It seems a bit hypocritical calling it rude when you tell people there is something "seriously wrong" with them.

Obviously making such connections is fruitless, the only thing that matters is me listing basic facts that should have been integrated/corrected/made before the release of the game.

I'm not going to comment here, on a basis of self-restraint.

And I personally have never had a crash when running GalCiv2, and I'm up to date patches-wise. Have you considered sending in the error reports to Stardock so they can improve the game? This would give Stardock some more of a chance of improving the game, rather than hearing how "wrong" it is.

WebReg: Good post! Maybe, just maybe, he'll take note of it. We can always hope...

Fued: Thanks, I found that quote years ago, and have been waiting for a chance to use it!

Can someone please kill this thread now

Xtrack, when I first read this I thought "wow, another idiot". I decided to give benefit of the doubt, and try and answer. Thank you for proving my faith in humanity wrong.

Firstly, let's get "amatuerish" out of the way. Go write a fricking better game than this, then you have a right to say that. You have NO right to say that, when you are an inferior gimp. They are opinion complaints, and frankly you are nothing more than a troll. Crashes? post a debugg.err file. Since it doesn't crash for me and my computer is anything but top of the line, I'm putting it down to an I-D-ten-T error. This is a matter of "waah waah". Shut up or leave, if you honestly dislike the game this much. A fairly large amount of people disagree with you, so you flame them.

Now will someone lock this?

Tho I doubt xtrak will respond in a nice manner and add something he hasn't allready said in one way or another I do believe he should be given the ability to repsond in this thread to the last few post.

IMO that is.

Xtrak nothing "should" be added to the game that you mentioned. It's called an opinion, and you are trying to press yours on everyone else and insist that it's fact.

Your views on the meaning of "opinion" need to be corrected. And that's not an opinion.

Some alignment specific advice for all concerned. Take your pick:

Good: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Neutral: He just wants attention. Ignore him.

Evil: Let the baby cry himself to sleep!

What it comes down to, any way you word it, is don't bother wasting your efforts here.

Xtrack, the reason people aren't geting you seriously is because you confuse opinion with fact.

You have your opinions on what would make the game more fun - for you. And that's fine. But when you try to argue that your opinions are universal truths, people will object.

What one person considers a must have feature (like hearing alien dialog) another person might consider annoying.

Anyway, there's nothing constructive coming from this so I'm going to lock it.
