THE MYSTERY : THE GALAXY AND THE LIFE OUT OUR PLANET

Hey people do you think that in the infinite galaxy have intelligent creatures which developing is better than us, i think that the aliens exists, and i thinking that American goverment hide them again with ESA(European Space Association)
And NASA and too some sattelite programs!
What do you think!

The galaxy isn't infinite. Nor is the universe.

Odds are in favour of life, but hiding it? no.

PS don't post titles in all caps.

I may agree that the galaxy is not infinate. I can however say that there is no measure of the universe so a guess is only going to be spectulation. There are those that believe there are intellegent life out there and are at this moment searching for it, me included, SETI(Search for Extraterrestrial Intellegence) has been on the search for years and they have found some signals like the "WOW" Signal that might point to the existence of interstellar life. I don't think that the government could cover up such a secret for so long most of there secrets are no longer secrets within a day or so, so it is pointless to try and hide something from the press.

The universe in space is infinite but not in matter there is a definate amount so there is also a definate of planets stars galaxies and solar systems and most likely there are other life forms but most likely they are too far away to be any problem were probably the only ones in this galaxy at least for now.

You give way to much credit to the US government to hide extraterrestrial life.

Should I be the first to mention the Drake equation?

There are other sentient species in the universe. I dont think God would waste so much space. In our galaxy maybe. But a galaxy is far too big to even think about meeting it. The distances involved would prevent any real interaction.

The fermi paradox.

Other species: yes

Coverup: no - dont be ridiculous, the US government is supposed to have somehow captured and detained alens who are at least several centuries more advanced than us? (a safe assumption if they are here)

Bear in mind that our galaxy alone has over 400 billion stars. Thats 400,000,000,000.00 stars. A VERY big number. The observable universe is a sphere with a radius of ~13.6 billion lightyears and this is estimated to be less that 10% of the total universe.

I disagree with galacticus as distance does not necessarily preculde communication. Two way communication maybe but I believe many advanced species would transmit monologues of information. I mean we have already done it on a small scale.

Bad Joke:

So if the universe isn't infinite, wouldn't that imply that it is finite and thus has an end to it. Where would that be? Is there a sign saying, "The universe ends here"? If so, I wonder what would happen if one crossed that line.
Ha Ha Ha

end of bad joke

Life? Of course it exists outside of our planet. Sentient life, as we would define it in our own image...well maybe. Then the question of timing arises. When? There may have been that sorrt of life at one time. Maybe not right this moment, in reference to our own existence. We have been around for a tiny slice of the universe's existence, an even smaller fraction of that measurement is our information and space age. How much time did the Dinosaurs have? Millions upon millions of years? Again, just a flea's hiccup in universe time. Someone, somewhere, at some point in time may have or will have yet, a flourishing spacegoing civilization in some form. At least some species of alien biology almost have to exist, even if it is just a tiny, tattered strand of RNA.

LIFE OUT OUR PLANET
HUH????

/rolleyes

I think the American goverment is the best prove for alien life in our galaxie. No human being can fail so far to solve or even see the big problems of our world.
So I even hesitation to speak of intelligent creatures.

If someone know does Nostradamus predict when alien species will come on earth,i think that there have some think, like predicting the end of the world!

That is Arecibo,another project

True the galaxy is not infinite, but the universe? Who knows? Certainly no one on earth, it may or may not be infinite. Its so BIG that we may as well consider it infinite.

There is no cover up, aliens have never visited Earth, if they ever did we would all know about it. There is no conspiracy ,period.

Life, virtually 100% certain to exist.

Intelligent life? Totally unknown. Its possible we are totally unique. Given the amount of signals we are broadcasting into space, since the 1940's, which will continue through space for ever. It's rather telling that so far we have picked up zero signals in space from any other source. This points to the fact that intelligent life is very, very, very rare.

So those original signals are only now 60-70 light years away from us.

If an alien civilization did exist with a similar level of technology - lets say 500 years in advance of ours - then we would only receive those signals if they live within 500 light years of Earth, and we were listening, and pointing our receivers in the right direction.

In 1000 years we could be using a completely different form of communication. Alien races could already be beyond that, or maybe not up to our level of technology. What are the chances of us being in communications range, at the right level of technology, at the right time, given the age of our planet alone?

Even if we receive a signal, and decode it, and reply, who's to say that race will get the reply? They might be long dead, living somewhere else, using different forms of communication etc.

Does alien life exist? Yes

Does intelligent alien life exist? Possibly

Will we communicate with aliens any time soon? No

Are intelligent aliens visiting Earth? Very doubtful, but who knows?

Is there a conspiracy to cover it up? "LOL" - that's all I can say.

If there is intelligent life out there, and they can interpret all of the radio and tv signals we've spewed out into space, I doubt it would want to have anything to do with us. We're probably like the Somalia of the galaxy.

Good aliens wouldn't want to visit because they don't want to be shot at, or mugged and held for ransom. Neutral aliens wouldn't come because we probably don't have any resources that would be worth the trouble.

Evil aliens... wait, that's it! It's just like that old B movie They Live with Rowdy Roddy Piper! Evil aliens have taken over the Republican party - it's not just a coverup, they ARE the U.S. government!

I'm sure they will have a Galactic Phone Number Portability feature set up. Or at the very least they'll leave a forwarding message. "We're sorry, but the Dirtbaggians are no longer at Aldeberan V. To serve you better, we have moved to Procyon XII and are now using Split-Beam Coded Tachyon Emissions as our preferred mode of communication. Please route all further communications through our probe on Uranus."

Guys, wouldn't it be cool if humans were the first intelligent life form in the Universe? Then we get to be the first to start colonizing the Universe and get godlike technologies... then we suddenly dissapear without any reason.

It's hard to say whether the universe is infinite. One thing for sure is that the universe is constantly expanding which has been proven through red shifts (don't know what those are? Look it up!) According to what you all have been saying, yes the universe is not infinite, but it is constantly expanding into infinity.

I dunno if that makes sense...

Some scientists actually argue that the creation of life is not a random occurance, but a state which matter "strives" for under certain conditions, which may be vary varied. If so is the case, life on other planets might not just exist, but exist in plenty.

Regarding "intelligent" life one might ask if intelligent is really the way to go, seen from an (creationists look away now!) evolutionary perspective. Virtually all species larger than mice, gets erradicated during a (large) mass-extinction-event, e.g. meteor strikes, methan erruptions, ice ages. I therefore believe that humanity is, most probably, looking at a bleak (and short) future, but I'm quite optimistic about the prospects of, for example, piezophiles (google it). My views are the same regarding extraterrestrial life.

A lightyear is something like 600,000,000 miles.(Correct me if I'm wrong) Considering that this life may not even be in the same galaxy as us, I find it highly unlikely that it'd ever reach us, even if we did some how create "Light Speed Travel", which I understand is impossible.

Oh rats, you've spotted the coverup.

I shall have to send someone round to exterminate you now. Please be in on Thursday.

Wrong. It had a beginning, (the big bang), it has been expanding ever since, (tracable by heat radiation) and thus it is finite. And is measurable, but it's not accurate, and I don't know the numbers offhand.

actually, the universe was created as a single point, and has been adding more (emptyspace) volume ever since. The observable/interactable raduis of the universe is about 15 billion light years.
I think there's some invention that allows rogue terrorists to destroy races, and that all races are thick enough to have terrorists.
