Breaking Alliances with Minor races

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm not quite sure how to break an alliance with a minor race. I've updated to version 1.2 and have only just noticed it in a game where I could only go for a Conquest victory. I would really appreciate it if some one could help me out with this.

You cant break an allaince with a Minor race like you can with a Major. About the only way is to get someone to attack them and not go to war with their attacker.

But you dont need to break an alliance with a Minor race to go for the Military conquest. In fact I ally with them because the Major races are always declaring war on them which then gives me a excuse to take them out.

My prefered method is with troop transports assaulting their homeworlds. Typically, after the first one, the rest are not quite as quick to make an alliance.

well if your allied you cant attack them

Um, that was a joke... And it's one annoying thing that, now that I think about it, I'd like to see gone. If you attack them, it should give you a little pop-up screen asking if you really want to, then automatically break the alliance.
