Production Time Always Says Never

hmm

Ever since 1.2 came out, any social project I try to build always has the time required as never. Whenever I exit out of the planet and re-enter, it then displays the correct time. If it doesn't say never, then it will give an estimate such as 50 weeks, and upon re-entry will report the true value of around 5 weeks. Any idea what's going on?

The same exact thing happens to me, also. Unfortunately, I don't really have much more to add than that. I don't know what could be causing it. My best guess is that it's related to social production overflowing to military production.

When it's listing something weird, I click to set the planet to another one of the production specs (military / social / research) and then back. This forces an update of the figures.

Same thing you're doing with leaving the planet and coming back.

It's because as unused social prod is converted to military prod, when you come to build the improvement there is no social prod available but when you go to the screen again it has recalculated and displays the correct time.

This is annoying and I hope it's going to be fixed in 1.3.

Hi everyone.

If you are experiencing this problem, please post your debug.err files in this thread. This file can be found in c:/program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2.

Also, I'm having difficulty getting this to happen on my 1.2 version, so if anyone has a saved game that demonstrates the issue, please send it to [email protected] along with your debug.err file and a brief description of how to reproduce the problem (what planet to go to, etc). Providing a link back to this thread is helpful too.

Thanks in advance. I'll keep a lookout for this in my games.

Well, I can't figure out how to post the debug.err in the thread, but I sent the e-mail with it and the saved game.

For future reference, here is how to post your debug.err on the forum:

You can open the debug.err file in any text editor like Notepad (Start menu->programs->Accessories)

Hit CTRL+A to select all
Hit CTRL+C to copy the text
Then put your cursor in the text box in the forum
Hit CTRL+V to paste the contents.
