Disappearing Ships!

I just got the collector's edition from Wal-Mart. I downloaded the 1.2 patch, the bonus pack, and the little 102kb program that enables the CE content. Is there a certain order I was supposed to install these things? Sometimes all the ships disappear while I'm playing. Specifically, if I max out the graphics for # of stars and nebula density as well as after spending a lot of time in the ship designer.

I have a Radeon 850XT PCI-e and am using the 6.5 drivers. I'm about to update to the 6.6, though. Game doesn't crash, though. Plays fine beyond the strange disappearing ships that seem to happen once in a while.

If you've gotten the 1.2 patch, do NOT install the bonus pack (all the BP content is included in all patches after 1.0X). The bonus pack download on the D/L page is an old patch (the last one that didn't require online activation, IIRC), so if you install it on top of 1.2 it will break your game in various ways, and you'll need to reinstall. The D/L page really needsa warning to that effect.

You can install the CE unlocker at any time--it just flips a switch and doesn't otherwise change your installation.

Let us know if the problem persists after reinstalling and just updating to 1.2 (no bonus pack).

Thanks! That was it, then. I had installed the patch and then the bonus pack on top of it. I wish they had put some sort of notice on the front of the Downloads page so I didn't screw my game up in the first place.
