Clarification regarding Military bonus

I just had luck when colonizing a new planet, some space pirates wanted to do business with me. So I got the three usual choices, of which the third seemed too good to pass up and therefore I chose;
+60% military bonus (edit: this probably should have been Starship bonus)

Afterwards I realized I didn't know exactly what this means. It could be any of these alternatives:
a) +60% military production
b) ships produced on this planet gets +60% offense
c) in the description it says "business with space pirates", something I associate with money/economics so it could be indicating a +60% taxes on this planet
d) something else?

I would have guessed on alternative a) BUT this doesn't show in the planets production figures (they are noted down just after the planet was cononized). With my spending rate set to 100%, and Spending distribution set to 33%/33%/33% the planet shows to be producing Military (3), Social 3 and Research 3. The parenthesis around Military (3) I conclude is because it hasn't got a shipyard yet.

BUT shouldn't the Military 3 be more? Shouldn't this show a higher figure if the planet is +60% Military?

Grateful for some advice here.

you lucky bastard! 60% is the max you can get. look on the planet details tab where you see the other bonuses. you should see starship bonus there. it only applies to that planet, ships build on that planet i should say. the hull built there is permanantly improved. it improves the attack by the stated ammount, like you suspected.

starbase military (from mining resources) bonuses are global and affect defense as well as offense. mil production bonus is another matter entirely. that affects how fast you can build ships and how much you pay. mil resources do NOT affect this.

hope that clears it up for you

The pirates event gives the planet it happens on a "Starship" bonus. This is just like a military bonus but it only applies to ships built on that planet, which will have a permanent boost to attack and defense in the amount given.

Thanks a lot!
An my mistake, it must have been "Starship bonus" and not what I wrote in my initial post.

Hehe, what's even more luck here is that I decided to make this planet my Manufacturing Capital due to good bonuses on the ground. The ships it already have produced (but not tested in war yet) must be pretty good.

No, only ships actually constructed there.
