tons of bugs

test post. If it works this time, I've got a lot of info to share.

It failed to post several times before... If a sysop can delete the original "testing 1,2,3" post, I'd have no objections.

Here's my list - everything I remember, anyway:

1. I talk to myself a lot. Instead of saying "Yeah, Alan Bradley, that's right," I say "Yeah, [my own name], I'd rather talk to myself in the third person and pretend it's you."

2. Orbital terraformer doesn't work. In fact, it locks you out of the tiles that would have been upgradable. It's a severe downgrade.

3. Privateer doesn't protect freighters. The freighters and the routes blow up, just the same.

4. Galactic Travel Guide doesn't reduce the cost of the survey modules to zero. I notice no change at all.

5. Custom race bonuses - loyalty and soldiering - remain even after the defaults are cleared. You can manually clear them, but it's too big of a temptation for me not to exploit it!

6. I haven't tested the hypotheses, but it seems that galactic wonders and super projects that should effect the empire only affect the planets they're built on. Restaurant at the end of the Universe and Omega research center seem to only really work if they're built on influence planets or research planets, respectively.

7. Custom race +3 trade routes didn't seem to make any difference when I played it. I get twelve after all the research with or without the bonus.

That's all I can remember right now. This game rocks, but these bugs are pretty annoying.

Oh, and Pirvateer only protects the route, not the freighter.

Then I suppose it has met it's purpose the way it was meant to be.
It did in the description say it was to protect your trade routes. Meaning they shouldn't be destroyed by continuas bombardment / destruction of freighters?

Hmm.

In my last game I had Galactic Privateer. I was at war with the Drath and later the Torians. During all that time they never destroyed my trade route freighters. Only those of my ally the Arceans where being attacked.

That is intentional. All of the races have some bonuses that stick no matter how you customize their abilities.

Super-Projects only affect one planet, period. That's how they're supposed to work. Wonders affect your entire empire.

But Omega Research and Restaurant of Eternity are wonders, and they only hit one planet, despite saying that they give overall bonuses (though I admit that Omega Research would be broken if it gave that much to your entire empire--it should maybe give only 20% if it's "fixed"). Further, stat bonuses like the Hyperion Shrinker and Hyperion Logistics are super projects, and they do affect your entire empire.

That´s true.

on 4: survey module cost to zero -- never done that wonder but don't think
it is suppose to reduce survey module cost to 0 -- just allow you to
explore anoalies with any ship wether it has a survey module or not -- survey modules are good for sensor radius too so that is prob why they are not reduced to 0.

Why would you post a response on something you haven't tried before? The information for the wonder does SAY that it reduces the survey module to zero. But I just can't imagine why you would feel the need to share an opinion that you even expressly admit is based on no knowledge whatsoever. Next time just don't post.

Furthermore, yes all of those bugs exist, they exist in the CURRENT VERSION (1.2) and they are irritating. Everyone is too eager on these forums to forgive Stardock for their bugs. In my opinion the fact that they have created one of my favorite games does not excuse game-breaking bugs that persist throughout months worth of updates. Just because you're an independent and small producer does not mean you get a pass on leaving major gameplay bugs in the game.

Privateer - Nope, I lost routes, too. It took a lot of freighters before I lost a route, but I lost routes even after I got the privateer. Now the routes were there before the privateer. I haven't tested if I can build routes after the privateer is built to see if those remain protected.

Trade Route Clarification - Oh, I think it is 10 routes with Master Trade. I said 12, but I forgot to consider a Galactic Council mandate of +2. The race bonus still had no effect.

1) The leader name can be changed to whatever is desired during game setup. So, in whatever person you like to talk to yourself, set the leader name appropriately.

2) Didn't know about the orbital terraformer. That's a nasty one I find unacceptable.

3) The privateer does protect my routes, but does not protect other race's routes to me. They get killed just the same with or without it.

4) Whether it works or not, Galactic Travel Guide is pretty worthless for me. It's expensive to build and by the time I can afford it, I don't really need it.

5) That's intended. Races get certain bonuses for free. They can be removed by selecting a value and clearing, but why? They're supposed to be free.

6) Wonders and projects state what they affect in the description. I have not personally found any descrepency there.

The one thing of value I got out of the OP is the problem with the Orbital Terraformer. Can someone confirm that? That's a biggie for me.

I've used the Terraformer in 1.1, but I've only played Neutral since 1.2. It worked in 1.1, but I don't know about right now.

You are playing v1.2, right?
I just played a game where I built Galactic Privateers and then got in a long war with the Iconians (I built the Privateers before the trade routes). The ships would come up next to my freighters and try to attack them (I know they tried because it kept autofoucsing on my freighters, like they were about to go into a battle), but they were never able to engage the freighters.
The Galactic Travel Guide is in need of serious work - it should probably be removed, or altered so that Survey Modules cost 1 bc and 1 space.
Resturaunt of Eternity and Omega Research Center do only affect the planets they are on, I think, though I think they alter the base rate, not stacked-on bonuses.

Yeah, version 1.2

Maybe I didn't explain the "talk to myself" thing clearly enough. In diplomacy, instead of using the name of the person I'm talking to, the computer inserts my own custom name, instead. It's not that I picked the wrong custom name, it's that the sentence in question requires the other guy's name.

I noticed a new one today - the custom homeworld doesn't change the star name on a custom map. It works on random maps, though.

The race bonuses I'm talking about are for custom races. I get an automatic +20 loyalty and +25 soldiering for my custom race, I think it is, in addition to 10 picks. I would only have considered erasing those because I didn't realize the computer got the same bonuses. Now I'm wiser. But why are they not alterable? What if I want to give my custom race bonuses in sensors and planet quality instead of being stuck with soldiering and loyalty every time?

And I'm going to take my little logitech camera and film myself losing freighters and routes with the Privateer in my inventory! But if it protects routes after it it is built, it's not worthless. Shadow confirmed that is the case, but I personally have not.

FREIGHTERS & PRIVATEER: I'm convinced now, that routes established AFTER the privateer is built are probably OK. My freighters en route to destination (after privateer) still got blown up, but no freighter in any route established after the privateer was attacked. I think only freighters and routes built before the privateer are in danger.

NEW BUG: The subspace blaster is inferior to disruptors, even though it comes after them in the tech tree. Another annoyance!

I can't really contribute much to this thread, but I would note that the description of the Omega Research Centre does say that it increases the research of the planet on which it is built. You can't call something a bug, when it works how it is described as working. On the Restaurant of Eternity, I admit I have not specifically checked in the Stats tab, but I would say it does give a +20% boost to your Influence ability, not just Influence generation on the planet it was built on.

On the Custom Race issue, that's not a bug, since the designers chose it and not enough people want it changed, but I agree that having pre-chosen bonuses does take away from the concept of a customisable race.

Can anybody confirm is the goverment text right or wrong. Is better goverment suppose to give you economy and industrial bonuses. It says so in Goverment screen, but to my understanding it only gives economy bonus.

It was stated that this would be fixed around 1.0X times. I dont even remember how many months ago that was.
