Mass driver effects

I realy dislike the sounds and animations of the mass drivers weapons (firing wiggly blobs). I've searched the forums but could'nt find a mod that changes them. Does anybody here know of a mod that makes them more bullet-like? Or could somebody either make one or tell me how to make it myself please? (I've never modded this game but if you point me in the right direction I might be able to figure it out.)

Changing them would require creating and adding to the game new models/animations and editing the entries for those weapons (see the modding guide stickied in the modding forum). There are some mods that change the phasors/disruptors to be like Star Trek ones, but none that I know of already that change mass weapons.
