Shipbuilding Feature

A feature that I would love to see in the shipbuilder, is a toggler swtich to "activate" or "deactivate" a compnent. For example, if you want to put a bunch of guns on your ship for the look they give, but only have room for a couple, have a switch that makes a slected weapon inactive, so it is there only to balance looks.

I just want the axis rotational controls to be worked on. The circular dials right now don't want to lock on the 5 oclock position. a numeric input and slider combo like in the diplomacy's credit/influence pt's screen would be good.

you can change the amount of degreees the rotate by starlost its under the options when you hit escape.

The developers have already figured that out, I think. Take a close look at the Defender and Colony Ship designs (by clicking on them and pressing Upgrade). You will notice that the Defender actually has two guns (though only one is 'active'), the colony ship has two colony modules (though it can only carry 500 colonists), both ships have Advanced Life Support (though it isn't active), etc.

Ship's appearances are independent from the components on them in the data files. For those who don't want to do that manually, there are mods that cover all components (giving fake versions, etc).

well, you can't add a blank comp to a ship w/o modding a blank comp. but the visual aspect is sotred separately from the functional info, so you could create a new core design if you wanted. otherwise you'd have to follow Kryo's lead with a new comp.

also, you can imput a number manually in the diplomacy screen for money and influence points. just click on the numeric field, you'll see a curosr start to blink, and type in the amount you want. it's so obvious, it's not obvious.

and shalkto is correct. in the options screen you can change the rotational amount. i keep it on 15 degrees, but i think you can go down to 5.

ps: speak of the devil... i was typing this apperantly while he posted
