Minor Race Allies

and the consequences

Ok, so I allied with a nearby minor race a while back and now cannot un-ally with them. They have been very well-behaved but their class 21 planet sitting in the middle of my very clean portion of the galaxy looks very delicious. I keep trying to get someone to declare war on them so they can ask me to go to war with them and I can say no to break the alliance but no one else will attack them because my military rating is 418 (compared to the next highest of 187) and I think they are a bit intimidated by me.

Solutions? I hoped the Trade Embargo button might break the alliance but that didn't work.

Just send all your trade routes to them and put lots of economy bases between you. That'll pay more than a Class 21 economic world would, and you can use the funds to "decommision" one or two of your current economic worlds by upgrading them to production.

Skrew it..jus anihilate them

Learn what you're talking about. You CAN'T attack an ally.

Just pay a bigger race to do it for you.

Are allies planets unaffected by influence? A couple fully loaded starbases should help sway it.

Yeah i know what you mean. Once you ally with a minor race you're stuck with them. I mean it sucks. I had to wait until they were wiped out to get their planets..oh well.
Wait so guys! how the heck do you "decommision"? I read it in the booklet but never figured out how to do that.

and how does the computer always kick my but in influence points. Not that i really care...i can win anyways...but i never get how they have mad amounts of influence. hmmmmmm

In terms of money I am doing quite well for myself without anything else. To make a long story short I am definitely going to win the game short of some massive plague that affects all my worlds at once. I am only at 19% victory (I have it set to only be a conquest victory) but wanted to get this minor race out of the way. I guess I do not have to to win but it's the principle of the thing, you know?

My appreciation for the input. Since I am stuck with them I might as well make lots of money out of them.

Influence is a game best played large. I have yet to take over a planet with troops. I am taking over them all with influence only. It is slow, but effective. Simply research the cultural trees and build a few influence starbases near your primary colonies to protect yourself from defection and then start building them near the edge of your territories (or near worlds you want within your territories) and build out from there.

i am not in the habit of having minor allies but i suspect they won't be happy if you pile transports on the planets near them. just keep stacking up cheapo transports(since you never intend to actually use them) and just enough defensive ships to protect them. or even don't protect them, who cares if they get destroyed. do protect any other assets in the area tho. the akillians in particular are paranoid lil buggers, before long i bet they will declare war on YOU pretty sure i have annoyed even my allies by having too many transports on the planets near their planets before.

I finally got someone to attack them and then refused to honor the alliance. My transports are on their way since you cannot seem to take out minor races via influence.

My defense vessels (around each planet) are Beam 206, Shield 65, Anti-Missile 73, Armor 48, 75hp. Their biggest was a Beam 6. I am pretty safe.

what are you all talking about? You are getting a notice that you are trying to attack and allie and are asked to cancel it! (or i might be dreaming)

Tho Trade Embargo, Espionage (tends to angers them)
