Massive Ship Appearances

I started and completed a game today in one sitting, on Normal difficulty (I haven't had the chance to really play the game until recently again, gotta brush up). Anyway...

Twice during this game there was a massive swarm of ships that appeared. I had Eyes of the Universe so I saw everything. The first time it happened, the Arceans benefitted from it. The mini-map was just loaded with yellow dots indicating Arcean ships all over the galaxy. This happened during my war with the Thalans (they were crushed). The second time it happened when I was at war with the Torains. Needless to say, I sued for peace (thank goodness I had the tops in diplomacy tech). I had to rethink my strategy and build up my military. Eventually I did go to war with the Torians again but it took awhile before they surrendered their last few planets to the Drath.

I this was mentioned not so long ago. It seems like a duplicate of the influence bomb that happened in a previous version but with ships this time. That influence issue was resolved. Has anyone else experienced this?

BTW, I am using v1.2.

In an older version of the game I got an event where the terrens leader got assasinated, and a new regiem took over and had a huge supply of crappy ships all over the universe out of nowhere. It also changed my allience with then to a war. Maybe this event is happening but its between to AI's so it doesnt tell you the event? Where all the ships pretty crappy, and called 'vengence' or something like that?

Yes, they are all called vengence. Now that you mention it, there were two events about leaders being assasinated, the Arceans and Torians.

So is this normal?

The same event was in GC1. An assassination or diplomatic faux pas would cause an AI to get swarms of corvettes named "Die Humans!", and an instant state of war with that AI.

I had this event once. The Korx leader Kralax of Korx(?) got assasinated during a deal one of my companies made with the Korx. Suddenly we were at war and the Korx had a bunch of ships with the name "Vengeance" (low level ships). They also had a new leader Azurelas or something like that.

this has also happened to me, apparently the torian leader dude was killed by a former worker of my biggest company when they were having a business meeting with the leader and it caused war naturally. SOOO then i beat them up pretty bad and they allowed peace to be(but wars between us were not over)
