Has anybody made a mod for Multiplayer? Is that even possable to do?

I bought the game specificaly to play with my brother, and found out that the game lacks multiplayer of any kind...

And unfortunately, since the game has a CD-Key of sorts, I can't return it.

So, the question on my mind is of course, is a multiplayer mod something that can even be done? Cause the company doesn't seem to be in any real hurry to set up Multiplayer (why only ~8% voted for multiplayer is beyond me...what fun is a strategy game like this when you have to play alone?)

[edit] I don't mean multiplayer over the internet, I don't think ANY mod could arrange that. I just mean hotseat...being able to have people at the same computer with different characters. One player finishes a turn, the other plays their turn, then the aliens do their thing

because the AI really knows how to play the game

and no, no MOD can do this. modding only changes the look and feel of the game, multiplayer however requires actual code since its not as trivial

The reason that multiplayer only got 8% is because the 90% of people who wanted multiplayer won't exactly be hanging around still. Even I myself just check this website from time to time to see if there are any plans to introduce it anytime soon

Thanks for the replies. And I guess if there's no multiplayer at all...time to uninstall =/ The game is only fun for a little bit, now i'm bored. I need humans, lol.

actually i thought a long time ago the devs said you could do a type of hotseat play, you had to change something or use a cheat or something i dont know, the wiki might have something, of course i could be completely wrong about it. i just thought i remember them saying while it wasnt really hotseat it was almost... eh who knows haha

A poll earlier that was just asking about MP, nothing else, returned a 33% vote for yes. I agree with you that hot seat is a useful addition to the game.

For that, you use the code (ctrl+z I think) to switch what race is being controlled by the player. It doesn't work very well though.

My god, do any of you whiners check the wiki site?! To enable this kind of thing you need to enable cheats and then hit ctl+shift+z
