A good use for the manual

I found a good use for the manual. It comes real handy when you run out of toilet paper. A least Galciv wasn't a total waste of money. Almost, but not a total waste. I am sure you fanboy monkeys will disagree. There are fools all over the world. You are not alone. Hell, I actually paid money for this rubbish.

I do tend to find myself really frustrated at the game. Partly because I feel I'm encountering the same underlying logic the drove me away from playing another Civ game. The assumption that it's me against all the computer players. I just quit yet another game because a race that's supposedly 'honorable' attacked me with a vengeance and obliterated me. I used to run into that with Civ as well, Gandhi was far from a peaceful guy.
The other thing that I always found incredibly irritating was the rate at which I get boxed in. Civ 3 did that every single game. The only alternative was to research weapons, and then eliminate every computer player next to me. This inevitably led to an excruciatingly boring game.
That being said, I intend on doing a little investigation here and see if it's really a matter of my not grasping the fundamentals, or if the game truly does have the same fatal flaws that Civ 3 had, which ultimately resulted in my not purchasing anything from Firaxis games ever again, including the much touted Civ 4

Want a cookie, make you feel better?

You could atleast bother to tell us what you dislike about the game...

@ jamester2

The devs have stated that the AI does not distinguish between huma and non-human players.

It doesn't, you can see that in a debug.err file, and see how it's treating the other players.

OP: Well, what can I say. "Fanboy monkeys"? Seriously, just because you don't happen to like a game doesn't mean it's awful.

Although I concede the point about the manual. It's useless. It was outdated at day one. I'm guessing you're awful at the game? Yeah, it requries intelligence. From the pithy name you have chosen, you appear to be lacking in that regard. You could have a) gone to IRC and asked how to play the game b) gone to forums and asked how to play the game c) gone to the wiki and researched how to play the game or d) watched the AI play the game, and learn what it's doing.

PS: the fact that you registered today JUST to flame proves your idiocy in ways I never could. Congratulations, you just wasted your time in a post that will probably end up locked or deleted.

For someone who choses the rather un-original name "Hate Stardock" and takes time to register at the game's Forum merely with the intention to bother other people with raving rants and the story of your own misery- well it suits you well to have been so stupid to have actualy "paid money for this rubbish".

Who needs the manual anyways- you bought a game. So please spare us any further name-calling and yourself the time and troubles of remaining a forum member- your web presence was obsolete before it began.

He needs to go back to XBOX and play Mariocart. The $300.00 computer Mommie bought him probably won't run the game well.

Hmm, I tried your suggestion and the manuals paper is just too rough for my sweet booty. Maybe that will be addressed within some special edition of "Dread Lords", "Dark Avatar" will unfortunarely be digitally distributed only.

On the other hand you can always printout the PDF-manual on some kind of soft paper, it should work for "Dark Avatar" as well.

Finally I come to the conclusion that you can easily find better and cheaper ways to keep your back clean, but it's still hard if not impossible to find a more satisfying turn-based strategy game.
