Please improve the governors stardock !!

Please is anyone with me here ?

First of all great game. But the governors/rally system really doesn't do enough on larger maps. My last game on gigantic, i nearly quit because of the tedium of having to manage which planets are building what.

Basically you can setup everything the 1st time, and things will go good. IE best planets build capitol ships, mediums build fighters, rest build constructors. They all go where they should.

The problem comes in when you want to add transports. The existing system will let you switch things, so you change all your planets to transports. Once you do this (or some level of it), there's no way to get back to how you had it without tediously changing each planet.

I've toyed with making 2 types of each thing so that they'd still be differentiated, but it's just too much work. I end up just switching between fighter construction and transports and they all end up at one place in a gaint mess...

Why can't they're be 4-5 master governors. Each would have a military product, a rally point, and a focus. That way i could mark all my top production planets as governor A, build ship A, and go to A rally point. All research planets get gov B, all pop centers get C, all crap holes get D, newly conquored planets get E.

That way when I need transports i could just set govornor A to build transports and send them where transports should go. What blows my mind is this isn't far off the structure of GC1.

bump...

Guess this game needs the Masochistic and suicidal difficultys since it's players enjoy such tedius micro-management.

The game has governors. LOL. Never used them.

Aren't they the ones responsible for auto-upgrading your structures?

I liked the governers in GalCiv-1 a lot better.

I also like the waypoint and shipyard controls in GalCiv-2; excellent invention!

Is it possible to have both?

You'd think it would be very possible to have both. Just imagine, if they had a form you could say "planets with pop in this range", production like this, and it would populate the list with just them. Then imagine you could say, for these planets now build this and send them there. It's very possible. The form could have all the planets properties. You could even say, planets that are undefended, build me my defender class ship.

The current state of the governors is a lie. The Ads clearly say the game won't bog down with micro-management. I've had turns take 20-30 minutes on a gigantic universe, trying to manage transports/battleships/constructors and rally points.

I've pretty much given up on using them. All i do now is just this :
1) have 4-5 25B pop planets always build transports and send them out. Since they're high pop, the pop generally recovers before the next transport is built.
2) have good production centers build battleships
3) have rest build constructors

They all pile up, and when i have enough i go to war. I don't try to do things too efficently anymore, it takes too long. The only problem i have, is managing new planets. (generally quick build a cheap defensive ship, but then only much latter identify where the planet fits into the above)

I personally can't believe more people don't get how inadequate the current govs are.
