Max of 10 ability points?

I've just been trying to up the max number of ability points a race has but I can't seem to get it to go over 10. The line

only give the race 10 points as far as I can tell. Is this something other people have tried? Has anyone had any success with this?

Customization points seem to be hard coded, as the tag looks to be ignored. I can probably change this value by messing with the game itself, not the xml files; however, I don't think stardock would like this, so that won't happen. Best to wait until they notice this "bug?" and fix it. If it is broken.

That's weird, and too bad. Oh well, we'll just have to hope they notice...

Well, you can still enter in values for ability points to whatever you want in the raceconfig.xml file. It will make your customization points go negative if you do too many, but the effects will still show.

You can add whatever you want to the raceconfig file, and as long as it does not match a preset value it will not count in the ability points.

So, you can add 100% research and it will not affect the total ability points, since 100% is not a preset choice that consumes points.

Any chance on getting the ability point field in the raceconfig.xml to actually affect the races starting points in 1.3?

I just went through adding 6 levels of choices for most of the abilities. I ended up setting the point cost to a factor of 10 since the game doesn't understand decimal values but now find out after searching that you can't change the starting ability points from 10.
