Disabling Tech Stealing

Disabling Tech Stealing

Is there any way to disable tech stealing, both via espionage and after invasions? I have a feeling there may not be...

I'd like this feature too. Or at least a change so that you can't buy or steal techs that you don't have the prerequisites for.

Yep you should be able to build a Galactic Wonder or something like that, which would safeguard your researched techs from espionage either that or make it so that the others have to pay through the nose to get stolen tech. Let's face it espionage is expensive and risky.

Also if your not currently at war with the civ your trying to steal tech from they should be alerted at the attempt and a significant fine imposed or war starts. At least something along those lines.

But if your already at war Stealing tech should not be allowed.

Perhaps they could make that an option in the creation screens..

No.

Ok, I thought as much. I think it would be a nice option, because I want to do a mod with multiple tech trees (as well as for normal gameplay reasons) and it'll mess everything up if people can get techs from other trees. Ah well.

Deleted...just realised I misunderstood the above post.

Hopefully the expansion pack will sort this out for us all. My hope is that there are good 'negatives' for launching an espionage mission that fails. Maybe it could degrade your relationship with the AI in question.

I dont believe it is neccessary to go straight to war if a mission fails but it should make your relationship suffer for it, maybe for 'X' turns or something.

I find that tech stealing occurs at advanced with no money involved? Maybe things can be modded so espionague is a lot weaker so stealing at least happens less often?

Stealing used to be very very rare... with 1.2 it became more common. I find it funny that people used to complain because it never happened, and now complain because it always does (don't get me wrong, I understand why, but I still find it funny).

Just to be clear, I don't like stealing tech when you invade a planet. That's too easy and exploitable. Stealing tech through espionage is fine with me, I think I've only done it once. That'll probably be more interesting in the expansion, anyway.

The topic is about disabling tech stealing for mods, and as the op stated later it can very much messup all your time spent into giving different races unique tech trees. Something has crossed my mind. Has anyone ever stolen in any way a tech that requires an alignment other than their own? For example, if you picked good as your ethic choice, have you ever stolen neutral learning centers?
