machine SID

I just installed a fresh copy of GalCivII and update 1.2 on a fresh install of XP. Now, when I try to start the game I get the message "The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match."

I have a ligit copy of the game (Bought it about two weeks after it came out!) but because I'm an overclocker, I change out my computer hardware quite often. This install is running completely different hardware for example. Am I getting this message because I've changed my hardware? As I recall, I installed a copy of GalCivII about two weeks ago on the old hardware and it ran fine.

Any help would be appreciated

The sig.bin file partially relies on the Windows installation ID. Therefore if you reinstall Windows or migrate your sig.bin file to another computer, it will not be valid for that installation.

Unless you reinstall Windows, you should not need to reactivate; just save the sig.bin.
