Disable custom ships?

Is there an easy way to disable custom ships made from previous games? For example: when I play new game, tech up, then open up the shipyard there are suddenly 20 different custom ships that I don't need. Thanks for any help regarding this.

go to My documents/My games/GalCiv2/Ships and delete everything.

Start a Battle of the gods scenario. All your ships should be in the shipyard, just delete them all there.

Either that or delete old designs as you go (rather than obseleting).

Or delete them all manually from where they are stored on your hard drive.

Unfortunately, there is no way of doing this without using these methods.

I think what is being asked is more a way of organizing the ships. ie. you create two custom races and spend time playing one, build up a set of ships specific to that race. Now when you move to race 2 and reach the same tech level you have a ton of ships that you no longer 'want'.

It'd be nice if the organization for custom race custom ships could be better organized or at least made so they only show for THAT race not EVERY race.

well you can but you have to do it out of game

just go to
My documents/My games/GalCiv2/Ships
take out all of those ships and put them into another directory call i what ever you want then when ever you want those ships back just copy them to the orginal folder
