$30 Expansion.. Will you pre-order?

$30 Yes? or No?

With the announcement that the new expansion pack will cost $30 i was wondering if any of you will pay for it? Also what are your hopes and expectatiobs for the expansion now we know a bit more about it?

Yeah, I'll pre order the $25 one.

I really don't play games that much anymore, and with a monster school semester coming this fall, I don't a lot have time (or money) to spend on things I might not like. I like GalCiv, it isn't as obtrusive a game as others (good for school work since it's just a turn here or there), and from what they have said about the expansion, it will answer all but one of the things that I feel the game lacks (would like multiplayer, oh-well). Plus, that epic generator just looks dang cool.

As one has noted, if you can't find an "unmasterable" game to your liking, don't play any!! You need extreme sports instead!

Pricy!? Just a little. But many other game expansions have been sold for more, and with less addition than SD is listing.

As far as those that may have already (or will by the release time) moved onto other games, I've gone back to others when an expansion is put out. So I imagine many others will too. I wouldn't expect everyone to; not everyone goes as much for expansions as new games or completely overhauled new versions. But I feel that many will come back to it, and those that stay till then will be pleasantly surprised.

So, my opinion / choice: Yes I'll purchase; and probably preorder. (I too like to save what money I can.)

Already pre-ordered... For all the work and support to Stardock puts into their games 25 bucks is worth it.

Umm, let me give that answer some serious thought... Yes.

I mean, it will have 'roids, and that first starship pictured with the caption "tons of new hulls" reminds me a lot of the teenager's modified car at the end of my street. Now I just need to get that Lowrider song integrated into the game somehow...

Where else can you get such improvements to a game you have already bought?

I'll consider my $ 30 as a thank you to Stardock for the already released 1.2 update. That was worth something to me and they did that for free.

I will buy. It's not just a few tweaks and some ship parts. In some ways it will present as an entirely new game. Given all that they will add I think $25 is a fair price.

I will certainly be ordering it in the near future. It all looks good to me.

I'm not sure I'll preorder, but I will most definitely buy it. Even though I was hoping for a $20 expansion, the stuff Stardock's putting into this expansion more than justifies the $30 price tag. Of course, I think they'd do better to also distribute the expansion to stores -- even just one retailer -- but I don't particularly mind, so long as I can get a CD sent to my house.

Definately buy.
Games I don't like are consigned to be coasters or junk.
Games I like, I generally purchase all expansions for and still play, in some cases even 10 years later.

One thing to note before you order the expansion pack is the fact that it will be available for d/l via TGN subscription as well, so those of you who have credits left will be able to use them to purchase the game via SDC.

This came from the people that work on that side of the Stardock process as we chatted on IRC last night

im not the pre ordering kind of guy .... but i'll buy .... oh yea ... i'll buy

im going to be buying with tokens so full price will probably be 3 tokens so if pre-order is 2 tokens then ill buy at over $10 savings from full price. but if pre -order is still 3 tokens then there is no point as thats arlready about the same as $25.

Yes I will. Not only is it adding more eye-candy, but it's sounds like it's going to add much more depth.

I won't pre-order. I already did!

No problem buying it here. I've got 6 shiney tokens left on TGN just itching to spend on something (wish there was a Jets and Guns II though, man that game is a blast!)

Griffin, I certainly wouldn't be concerned with the timeframe. I mean they are talking 6-8 months after release of the original game. That's actually very quick. Most expansions are typically a year or more after the first game (like Civ 3 and now Civ 4).

hey bonscott, here is a qoute from wikipedia

"RakeInGrass have confirmed on their official forums that they are working on an expansion entitled JnG Gold, which will include additional levels, weapons and enemies. Early screenshots also indicate that the expansion will feature a display resolution of 800x600 as compared to 640x480 in the original version."

not sure if this will be released on TGN tho. but yea, JnG is great. and so is totalgaming.net
