I'd have to talk with my parents, but I'd most certainly would. I have the money.

Doubtful.

GC2 is rapidly losing its luster as the same type of issues as were found in GC1 begin to show through.

Adding more nonsense for the AI to not be good at just doesn't sound like it will make for a better game. Its still an OK game, but ehh...

I will pre-order for $24.99, great game

I will most likely not preorder, we will see when its released and if I got the time to play.

I'll buy it. Whether I get around to pre-ordering I'm not so sure. Certainly not going to do so until much nearer the release!

Maybe. It just seems like a lot of money just for some new features. Will have to think about it for a while. What am I thinking of course I'll buy it more GalCiv2 more MORE MORE!!! purchase consume purchase again it's a vicious cycle they sucked us into.

Once the time comes, and if I have the money, I will certienly pay $25 for the pre-order.

Okay, so at first I was thinking "eh, maybe, but only because I love new games, and get bored quickly even if switching between them"...but then I looked at the link and wow, looks impressive, and like it will add many new enchancements to the game, anyone notice what looks like a mecha in the combat fewer screen? Look at the ships each player is controling....maybe a "goodie" and the difference in look is really cool. Love the look of asteroids, I really hope that that atleast with that expansion, if not prior, that a LOT more will be able to get modded, a lot can be modded now, but I'd love to see all types of mods, making starbases move without trade routes, attacking with starbases, ways to soften up opponents prior to them getting to you (would be nice to be able to set up a sort of field that would automatically weaken a ship's attack permanently) so even if you can't take them out, you might be able to hold them off while you learn what you need....these are all just random thoughts so please don't get into a whole dumb debate about how it would be bad or good, point is I personally would like to be able to create things like that, you wouldn't have to use them.

Yea I know, can't believe just how gutted I am about not getting a shiny box with it, its sad, really sad I know but I am still gutted. Capitalism has got its claws deep in me...

How can I be so gutted about a bit of cardboard or plastic?

Interesting people are complaining about the price. Have you ever noticed how much "bang for their buck" gamers seem to expect compared to other media? This is not exactly a criticism...I mean, I'm pretty certain I'll get way more entertainment time out of it than going to the cinema 3 times, buying 3 dvds or a few books, but still I look at it and go "$30...that seems a lot for just an expansion".

While its a bit higher priced that I had hoped for yes I will preorder in a month or two.

ubertaco, i'm really curious..

is there a strategy game that hasn't lost its luster for you. One that doesn't have exploits, and gives up a better challenge without cheating? Don't worry, I won't spend my time knocking down whatever game you name (though I'm sure i could easily). This is more rhetorical. And the following isn't directed at in in particular...

Some people have expectations that are simply way too high to be realistic. Namely that there must be a single player strategy game out there that can't be mastered. That will continue to surprise and challenge months or years after having been introduced, regardless of the player's particular skill level and experience.

Won't happen. Never will happen. And if it must happen for you to enjoy the game, this isn't the hobby for you.

As for the expansion, i'll take a wait and see. I like some of the less intrusive features, but I (surprisingly) agree with ubertaco...I just hope the ai can handle it.

Whilst i am not bothered about the cost of the expansion, i am concerned that the time frame for the expansion is too far in the future and by then a large amount of the people who purchased the game will have moved-on to new games.

The big question here then is if those people that have moved on from the game can be moved into buying the expansion?, and will it have enough new features to make those of us who have moved on pay our $25 to start playing a game we will have probably put to the back of the desk, so to speak...

I will be getting the expansion packs as i hope to be still playing the game come then, however i have some concerns if Frogboy and crew may be leaving the expansion a bit too long from the launch of the game. Time will tell i guess

It's a decent expansion, so it's worth the money. It's not just a case of 'hey look, new races! Buy now!'

Well... there are new races, but there's also an overhaul of the espionage system, more variety in planets and new space 'terrain', along with a few pointless-but-cool features like the automatically generated game report.

I'll probably pay $25 for it. I like the feature list. It might be a bit painful getting two 4X games around the same time, but oh well.

ASTEROIDS!

Wow! Just had a brain wave, ouch, that really hurt. Inspired by the above plus star trek:enterprise plus starship troopers I suppose. How about sometime in the future (perhaps GC 3), a new weapon, that can move an asteriod out of its orbit and send it plunging into the planet

Asteriods would then become a double-edged sword, giving the planet extra resources etc... early on. But possibly used against u later on.

Imagine it, extinct dinosaurs...err...Drengin anyone! Or even better the Torians, I really, really would like to drop a 10 mile by 10 mile dense asteriod on top of those happy smiley Torian %@%$*...

I'll buy. I'll like the new content, and I figure if it gets enough support- they might do a second expansion, which will have some of the features I miss.
