Galactic Guide Book & Survey Module

I built a Galactic Guide Book, which states that the survey module should be reduced in cost to 0. However, I am still being charge for it. Is anyone else having this problem?

Ok you have the Galactic Guide Book and you actually still need it? From many posts, and my personal experience, by the time one gets the GGB, all anomolies have been discovered, even on gigantic galaxies. As to your question, I'm not sure but do a search. I may be that no one uses GGB due to it being obsolete by the time you get it.

You get charged BC for it, but it doesn't take up any space. Pretty sure that's how it's supposed to work!

It does neither. The GGB appears completly FUBAR'd as of v1.2 It seems to have zero benefit whatsoever. (Though I do recommend trying to build a ship with the Survey module on the same planet as the GGB to confirm it.) The description implies Civ wide, but it's possible it is only planet specific. (Some consistency with super project's / Galactic Achievements etc. about planet/civ bonuses would be nice.. Grr!)

Don't forget that bonuses tend to not be applied in the ship design screen itself (a ship without engines will be referred to as having a base speed of 1 no matter how many hyperdrive techs have been researched).

But yeah, don't bother building a GGB, by the time you get it you won't want to be using Survey modules anyway.

While you may not be able to use them to dicover anomolies, survey modules still give you increased sensor range, over and above even Mk. IV sensors. Thus the GGB STILL provides a benefit (although a minor one) in that you can add powerful sensors to all your ships without taking up valuable space that could be used for more weapons or defensive systems. Of course, if it's broken, then it's not really any use after all.
