strang y character when i type

When I type the name of a ship or planet. a stange y character pops up. It is annoying as hell and I cant explain why it is doing it. I cant even find any other post about it. can someone help

I have the exact same problem occuring. A few months ago several people complained about this, including myself. It was thought that using a microsoft wireless keyboard causes the problem. Are you using this kind of keyboard? I'm not sure if updating the drivers will fix the issue, but it has been talked about before on the forums.

I have had a microsoft wireless keyboard with the problem, then I switched to a logitech wireless keyboard, same problem. Updating the keyboard drivers fixed the problem.
