Unable to Start Game

Unable to load scripting libraries

I just purchased the game last night and attempted to install it. Received the following error when the cd loaded (fyi - no debug.err file was created): "Unable to load scripting libraries. Please install using setup.exe and play the game from the start menu. probable reason: Window Script 5.6 is improperly installed. Search for download "windows script" for a reinstaller.)" I ran setup.exe manually from the cd and it installed successfully. However, when I tried to run the game I received the same error. I downloaded and installed the latest galciv2 patches and receive the same error. When I click the "ok" button acknowledging the error the game start menu appears with the "Play Game" and "Manual" buttons. I select "Play Game" and get the error message: "Unable to launch application. Please run setup.exe manually and run the game from the Start menu." Nothing is working. Any ideas?

Hey, whaddyaknow?! I found another posting on this - though it was unresolved - that mentioned going to Microsoft to download the "Windows script 5.6". Went there, downloaded and installed and now the menu comes up with full options and I can start the game.

Exxxxxcellent.

If you are using McAffee virus scan, please disable it or have it ignore gc2launch.exe.

If that does not help, please try running Galciv2.exe directly by selecting Run from the start menu and entering this:
c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2\galciv2.exe

Then click OK or hit Enter to run it.

I had/have that same problem so I sent it to the ignore list. Any idea why McAffee see's Gal Civ 2 as a virus or unwanted?

Probably the same reason Norton Internet Security does not allow dungeon siege 2 to run...shrug

The GalCiv 2 launcher uses Windows scripting, which some anti-virus programs automatically detect as viruses whether they are or not.
