Huge planet quality, pictures inside!

I just played a game and had a class 58 planet! See this link: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/9661/class583cm.png

I turned it into an economic planet Still lost though!

WOW, that one would be an absolute rarity

Not if you go in to the race config and make it so that every race has +2000 PQ bonus....

Well, Ive noticed alot more standard 26 PQ planets - current game Im playing has 8 with less than half the map uncovered. The giant planets are when you get a large % upgrade on PQ when colonising one of these then when you turn neutral these upgrade to HUGE values.

I had a planet hit twice by the 'double your planet size' special event.

PQ 54. Kind of embarassing amount of stuff can be put on 54 tiles...

Dumb question... but how does that work? I mean I thought there wouldn't be anywhere near 54 tiles on the tile screen of the planet...

exactly...

I do not care about the PQ of a planet.. if I only have 24 usable tiles.. the rest is mute.. since the high PQ doesn't equate to somekind of an equivalent bonus...

and one beef I have with the AI still... sometimes they forget the really good planets right near then.. annoying...

they way the AI can re-model it's ships and adjust on the fly to combat situations, they should do the same with their colonization of systems....

In a previous game I colonised a PQ 26 planet, got a % increase of PQ as an evil option which I selected and it bumped up to 32 PQ. When I researched Xeno ethics, switched to Neutral alignment, it changed to PQ 47...cant for the life of me see how it increased this much.

I also agree with Moiiska, pre-colony rush the AI will often colonise a PQ 8 planet prior to a PQ 26 that is 2 squares away (and well within AI ship range) and the PQ26 planet will sit invitingly open for a considerable period.

Makes me wonder...does the AI on higher level KNOW what tiles are available on planets prior to colonising? If so this might explain it colonising a much smaller planet with good bonus tiles prior to a large planet with little or no bonus tiles.

It was not only the change to Neutral alignment which increased the PQ. It also got soil enrichment, habitat and terraforming as well, which neutrals get as free, those also individually put PQ up.

As far as I know this is not true. The AI does not have this advantage.

He could have got the planet guality the following ways. He got have added lots of PQ bonus (as mentioned above), he could used a cheat, or he could have got a class 26 and got an event and terraformed it.

I once had a planet with 49 PQ... Theoretically, the maximum is 72, since that's how many tiles there are on a planet.

I'll tell you how I did it. I didn't modify any configs or cheat. Basically I played Yor then set my PQ bonus to 20% using 8 points, it started out as a PQ26 I think then I aligned neutral and jumped up to 58. It didn't have 58 tiles though but it was pretty much full

My record was somewhere around PQ32. Very impressive world, although on hindsight I could have made better much better use of it then I did.

That PQ 47 planet i had shouldnt have increased that much...from 32 to 47...15 tiles, normally u get 6 extra tiles due to instant terraforming etc on a PQ 26 to go to PQ 32. No cheats were used nor were there any other events apart from the initial evil bonus selection when colonising.

In the current game Im playing I colonised a PQ 26 planet and had a 27% PQ increase by selecting the evil option and the PQ increased to 33, it subsequently increased to 50 once I finished research Xeno ethics and turned Neutral...thats over a 50% increase on the boosted PQ!

Here's my record, a Class 72.

I just saw that the save game and image links I posted have been taken off (there is one on the forum post though), and my copy is on my school computer, I'll have to poke around to try and find it. It was on version 1.0X, no modding or cheating.
