Invasion question

Do invasions cost money?

One time after I successfully invaded a planet I noticed my funds dropped from +600 to -400 (I should mention that this invasion took place right after the colonization phase, so it was just as I was building my economy, which is why I only had 600 in my treasury). I thought this was strange since it was in the middle of a turn and I hadn't purchased anything so my money shouldn't be dropping. So I invaded another planet and my funds dropped 600 more. After I got out of debt I built some more transports and tried to invade some more planets. Again, every time I successfully invaded my treasury dropped by between 500 and 1000 each time.

In all games I've played since the same thing has happened. I just finished one in 1.2 and yet again, funds dropped after conquering.

I was just wondering if this is a bug or if successful invasions cost money. I've checked the literature and didn't see anything about it.

If you lose money when using the traditonal warfare tactic then you've run into some strange bug. But if you'v'e been using other tactics (information warfare, gas attacts etc.) then its normal to loose money because all the special invasion tactics cost money.

I believe the amount of money a tactic costs is displayed in the right-hand side when you are choosing an invasion tactic. An Evil Galactic Wonder (No Mercy Invasion Tactics) removes the invasion cost.

Exactly.. if you use War-tactics it cost money... Use "Traditional Warfare" if you want the invasion to be "free" (still costs alot of LIFES"

The Wartactics costs all from 200-2000? sort of...

Ah excellent. I just tried some different invasion types and the traditional warfare one didn't cost money. Thanx all!

The cost isn't displayed when I am choosing them though. Maybe I'll try a re-install and see if that fixes it.

Edit: I checked the game I was playing and the cost wasn't there so I re-installed the game and now the cost appears! Problem fixed!
