HELP! - Can't load (bug)

So I've purchased Galactic Civilizations II. At the initial loading of the second disk i recieve an error message: An I/O Error occured when installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file. Does anyone know how to fix this bug?

Assuming it IS a problem with the media, the first thing I'd try is copying the whole CD to your hard drive an installing from there. If that does't work, you could take it back to the store where you bought it and exchange it for a new copy. If you don't mind a huge download, you could try registering the game on Stardock Central (https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/) and then downloading the whole thing from there. I don't know what registering that particular media will do for the "returnability" of those disks, though.

Hey I had this same problem, I just kept returning the game from where I got it from which fortuntanly was Wal Mart and their liberal exchange policy! It took two returns to get discs that finally worked. And the old lady working the returns said I hope this works for you it's a really good movie I just shook my head and laughed my way out of the store.
