planetary focus

Im just trying for research focus on one of my planets and there happens nothing. I have 30 research regular and 30 when focusing, but my social production falls 2 points down when I focus on research. This actualy happens like all the time. "Focusing" brings at best 1-2 more points, not more, not less, while social production or military production dont fall a lot, just 0-2 points. So either it is not working, or Im missing the way how it works?

For every 4 base points you have in social and military, 1 will get transferred over to research (and correspondingly drop from social/military). So if you have the social/military sliders set low and/or are using the focus on research button on a planet without many factories, you can expect it to make little difference. Try doing it on a manufacturing planet. If you don't see a significant research increase there then something could be wrong.

Note also that it works on BASE points. So a factory which gives 8 manufacturing points will transfer a maximum of 2 over to research...any bonus manufacturing from racial abilities and buildings is ignored in the calculation. Your research bonuses ARE applied to the transferred production though.
