EDIT- LInk posted. Quick question about the mod, is there anyway to replace the CGI characters with the portraits of the B5 races? When they talked to you via, diplomatic screen etc.

How could I do music for the mod? I have an extensive collection of B5 music. Like when Gnn report comes on you could put ISN jingle to play, or if you start losing play requiem for the line theme. It would really set the atmosphere.

yea i know, i got a b5 collection of music to, that i play in replacement of GAL CIV2 score. Really puts in to the game...

@ Spaxspore: you shouldn't be seeing any of the gc2 cgi portraits even in diplomacy screens, or did I misunderstand your question?

@Star Dagger: try sending them to me via email

@Coplann: bluestar will be in the next version, I've been thinking about the ea and mf sharing the isa hulls but am open to ideas. And in case you're wondering why I haven't added your other hull thumbnails... they don't seem to work in the mod folder yet.

I can't upload the mod to the library because it is over 20mb. Haven't had any problems with that verzend file host personally - I get about 50kb/s and that's full speed for me.

Modding minors doesn't seem to have been addressed as much as modding majors (in the 1.2 patch) so everyone please post any problems you are having with them.

Havent played mod yet...has been some time since i played original GC2.Anyway i have seen pics of B5 ships in mod download section.Very cool work.
Will this eventually be all conversation mod to B5 universe?Oh and it would be soo cool to have Babylon5 itself as uber strong station

Well i had that occurance in the test mods (not this version ... havnt played it yet)
I would have the CGI characters from GAL CIV2 during gameplay instead of the portraits of the b5 characters. VIA diplomatic screen, and the screen that pops up when a AI declares war on you or sends u messages.


I think having the minbari have the IA ships (white star, blue star, victory) is the best idea, since they crew it and its not at all part of Earth Force. IE- Shadow war Captain Sheridan was a rouge and concidered traitor to the earth alliance.

ya, Id leave blue and white star to Minbari only, tho human rangers were on board of them along with Minbari they were all built by Minbari and the ranger training center was on Minbar too.

Excalibur/Victory is another story. would be cool if we could make them unique (i.e. can only have 1 of them in the game at the same time and give them unique traits). however they were built by humans (with ISA*technology, but nevertheless). they were also like only manned by humans (except Galen and stuff in the Crusade show).

only thing I dont like is that Omega/Nova/Warlock are all Huge hulls. Id set them like this:

tiny: aurora
small: thunderbolt
medium1: olympus
medium2: hyperion (after research of Superior Hulls)
large1: Nova
large2: omega (after research of Master Hull Building)´
huge1: warlock
huge2: Excalibur/Victory (say with beeing neutral or good alignment, like having access to arnorian armor or something)

could also add the Omega-X (with shadow technology) for evil players (gotta convert that model yet tho ^^).

I hope to have a day off during the next week to finish revisit the to other minbari ships (optimizations and thumbnails).

Got those Narn logos, Star Dagger - the matte one is perfect. GC2 likes simple and bright logos, any chance of similar ones for the other races?

For people having problems with the trade portraits (and I hope it's only the two, it works for everyone else right?) try removing the .raceconfig files with Babylon 5 names from your %mydocuments%\mygames\galciv2\ folder.

Good hull ideas, will probably go with them in the next version. Don't really want to change the hulls around between versions much so if anyone else has suggestions then now is the time

Id also like to make a request to get the hull rotation going again. Without rotation seems wrong.


you need to talk to SD then because the way the game auto-scales the size of the ship is getting screwed up when the ship is animated. it works in the shipyard and in combat, however animated with the exact same model size as the Omega is right now it takes up like 6+ sectors on the galactic map. if I scale it down so it only takes up 1 sector it then is smaller than a thunderbolt.

Great mod but for some reason when I go to talk with the other civs the original game leaders appear in place of the B5 leaders. Anyone else having this problem? For some reason I never have a problem with the minor races but I do with the major ones.

Any chance when will the Narns be added for the 6th civilization.
I deleted the raceconfig out of the mydoc,game and I still get the leaders from the original.

Don't know what is happening with those portraits - it is especially wierd that your minors work but the majors don't Aragfore. It works perfect for me and three others that I've seen with my own eyes, all I can think of for now is:

- I have changed the location and names of the trade portraits between versions so saved games will only work in the mod version they are started in (this one is my best bet, seems to fit the symptoms). Try starting a new game.

- Custom games (ie. battle of the gods) will force the ignored gc2 characters in to the game, only normal games seem to work smoothly with mods.

and to state the obvious make sure you are running the newest (1.2 final) version of galciv ii

Still havin the problem, using latest ver, started new game, deleted the config files before startin a new game. Screens here. Also havin a issue with the title screen.

The trade movie problem (i think) is caused by the fact that there are no alternate trade movies included in the mod. Therefore it uses the default trade movie.

EDIT: I have found a way to fix this. Go into the raceconfig and replace the trade movie with the png image above it.

Change to:






The reason the minor races trade movies were working is because they never had them in the first place.

Sorry to anyone who is having problems, slowly narrowing it down... thanks Ion.

I only usually install the game via stardock central and don't bother with the tutorials, movies or multimedia. All the movie entries in the xml files will be changed for the next version, should be an easy fix (I thought I was aiming low with a 0.1 version number ).

Hope to have 0.2 up in about seven days. No major changes, barring some more beautiful models turning up at the library, just some tweaking and a nice clean implementation of everything simple that 1.2 supports. Also plan to steal a great idea from Darth Kryo's hull mod and minimise the mod download by including a batch file to copy duplicate files.

I didn't see this mentioned, has anyone had a problem with the game crashing when you build a station?

Seems like it tries to play the movie then....poof.
