Nice machine, Logic Sequence.
Looks like a nice setup for video editing, too.

yes it is, it's getting kinda old tho. I'm going to upgrade in '07 and get dual Xeons, but i want to wait to get the new version of the dual core xeons. so i'll have dual dual core xeons, probably jump to about 8Gb of ram, and probably 2 workstation graphics cards, maybe Nvidia this time, dunno. Too bad i'll have to run Vista on it . I'm a graphic designer and 3D modeler and artist, and this machine is good for that; that's also why i have 1.5Tb of Hard Drive space, gotta love the XaserIII, 6 side loading HDD bays . Plus it can run any game on the market in a snap. Built it myself, saved $2000 compared to the Dell equivilant at the time.

My last job was the tech at a small computer store that speciallized in desktop video editing machines. Your setup is similar to those machines. We built workstations for Lightwave, too. Ya, a dual dual core Xeon would be killer. Vista has some good points, though. Like the vector based graphics. And any machine you are likely to build should be gangbusters for Vista.

I have played with Lightwave quite a bit. Trouble is, my personal copy is back at 5.0. Never upgraded it and now I can't afford to. Don't know of anyone that might have the 5.0c update for that, would you? It fixes a bad OpenGL glitch, so I can't even use it at the moment. I would like to design some ships for the game, and I have not found anything in the cheap range that I like. But I can design in LW5 and export to one of the others to get it to DX format.

To give an idea how old that card is getting... he are a couple of games that just came out when the card was "new"

Age of Empires II: The Conquerors
Aliens vs. Predator: Gold Edition
Star Trek: Armada
Star Trek: Klingon Academy
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2

Yeah, but I am very slow to approach new games. I wait till they're hailed as classics first. My computer has been asked to play Doom2, Populous: the Beginning, Half-Life, Age of Empires (the first one), Civ 3, and just last year, Galactic Civilizations I. So it worked fine for all that. I thought GC2 would be more like Civ 3.

P4 2.2 Ghz processor
1Gb PC2100 DDR memory
120 Gb HD
Sound Blaster Live Value sound card
GeForce FX 5500

The videos don't work half the time and gigantic maps can take a minute or so for a turn, though it's better with version 1.2

I usually buy a new computer when I get a good game that it just won't run. Hasn't happened yet with this one. (though gal civ 2 did make me get more ram... I did just have 512Mb) This is the first computer I ever actually bought instead of built.... I should have built one, but I was lazy at the time I guess.

Too bad I'm running out of HDD space, Anyone know how to seamlessly copy over one hard drive to another? (O.S included)

Yes. There are a couple of programs that do this. Acronis is one (www.acronis.com) and Symantec's Ghost is the other. Works great, including the OS.

No No No, it's the only place you'll find that particular upgrade, if it's still on anyone's computer...
