A question on configuring races.

One shot for perfection

I've noticed a problem when configuring the races in GCII. For some reason I can't edit any of the races. I can open the text files to actually edit it, but none of my work actually shows up in the game. For instance, I was trying to give every race access to the basic military techs, (weapon theories, armor theories, invasion tachtics, bla bla bla) and I wanted to increase the logistics values for each race to make the fleet battles more "epic". But as I said, nothing crossed over into the game. I did however successfullly create a new race. With the new race, everything worked. The first time. When I went back to tweak a few things, I had the same problem, nothing crossed over to the game.
If you know how to fix this, or even just tell me why it's hapening, please post.
Thank you-

Simple. Go into your my docs/my games/galciv2 folder, and delete all the raceconfig files. These are made every game, and while they exist no new changes will carry over.

With them out of the way, your mod will work as you intended.

or you could mod the actual race config files in my docs, same effect

the raceconfig files in the my documents folder are not permanent, and are races used in games played. When these get wiped, it reverts to the original. He was editing the original, which is a) easier, you don't have to make a copy for if the save is wiped and b) can be turned on/off with a mod.

I think you'd be better off creating a scenario with those settings rather than monkeying around with the race files. Take a look at "Battle of the Gods.gc2scenario" and it should show you how to do most of what you want.
