Research tech idea

Is it me or is the tech tree imposible to understand. I have a suggestion, make it like the civ4 tech tree. in civ4 you can see ahead and see what techs are available ahead of time in a much more organized manner.

It is a jumbled maze at first. However, after about ten or twenty games, it becomes easy to navigate. Too bad there is no easy to navigate big tech chart within the game. The one that is there depends on a player knowing the tree very well in order to pursue the better techs.

You can expand the graphical representation of the tech chart. There's a button to make it go fullscreen.

Also, check that you don't have any filters on--there are options to filter what displays, and that can get confusing.

(Honestly, though, I've never had any problems with it at all...)

The GC2 tech tree is far from a jumbled maze- GC1 was a jumbled maze. This is just has a bunch of branches and is pretty straightforward.

To be honest, I always found it tough to understand Civ4's tech tree...

It's straight lines. How this is confusing is beyong me. I believe someone made a full size tech tree online, which I will link when I find.

I find the tech tree to be very understandable. In fact, at first it did confuse me only because I was so used to civ4's stlye, with this tech and this tech having to be researched before this tech. GC2' tech tree is extrmely comprehensive and easy, just research according to your current and future needs, the techs are fairly self explanitory

As others have stated before, this tech tree is simpler than the Civ 4 tech tree (where you could have alternate requirements for technologies), although it is a bit confusing to read.

well making a game With a tech tree that we don't understand gives you advantages in game programing (it doesn't necasarily have to be perfect, just adequtely large and vast so you don't get bored until the end-game)

i have the poster and thats is useful and the only real branching is in the first bit

To all his own... it is getting easier to understand the tech tree but I still think they could do a better job of giving more detailed information. Its kind of short.....very short. I am an information junkie and the tech tree leaves me wanting more. Also the descriptions at the bottom of the screen when you finally do research the tech does not tell you anything really, its just some stupid funny stuff.

I would call the tech tree in gc2 ridiculously simplistic. The notion that the techs just get a '2' or '3' added to the end of them is silly. Luckily the game has an elegant, highly mod-able design that allows you to overcome most of the things that irritate you.
