where'd my TURN button go?

Hello, I am trying to play a saved game. I can't play it anymore because the damn TURN button is has vanished. That's right, its gone. I have 150+ ships flying around, and I went down the list and made sure each and EVERY ship I control has advanced, and didn't have anymore moves, you know 0/0. Well it is searchable I see, now. I found the search link here on the page down here on the side. Sorry. This site is as horrible as the efile IRS site. I tried to edit the damn thread but the damn forum just doulbe posted it. So I tried to remove the post and there is no way to do that. This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrating. I can't believe I paid for this horse crap.

I STRONGLY recommend you do not insult the game when your intelligence is at question.

OHMIGOD DID I JUST SAY THAT? Yes I did. The search button is to the left. next to my lovely shiny post. I can even take a screenie of it! Please, state the version you are using, and post a debug.err file, located in your main directory. This is a fixed issue.

Please only post trolling comments when you have found a NEW bug. This is a FIXED bug. And if you aren't playing 1.1, that's your fault for not updating. Please try harder to troll next time, so I might have to make an effort to find a comeback. As is, this is your fault, and you're an unhelpful poster. We need info. "omfg this is horsecrap" is not info.

It may be the other civs ships haven't stopped moving yet. Sometimes, it takes a while for my turn button to come back up.

Pressing the "Enter" key on the num pad will run a turn, also, try selecting an enemy fleet or starbase (friendly or enemy) before running a turn, it seems to speed things up some for me...

Reload doesn't do anything. I waited. I waited some more. I tried smashing Enter. But you know what I didn't try, and what wasn't mentioned. Toggling that autoturn option off/on.

I'll tell ya what I think. The patch ruined the saved game. I like how it put itself in the Startup menu, without asking. This patcher couldn't just patch.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! It has to mess up things and make me reboot. Poor!

I'm sorry, my subtlety evidently wasn't enough. The fact you have the balls to call somone a troll is laughable, you hypocrite. And please, was the childish retort all you could muster? At least Psycho had the excuse of being a mentally unstable cokehead, you're just bad at this.

Windows xp SP2 has major issues about rebooting. That;s for everything. Yes, the patches DO ruin the save game, because the game you ran them off no longer exists. Would you kindly post a debug.err file so if there is a problem it can be fixed?

hmmm... it'd be nice if these forums were a bit more civil...

And yes, after a major update, (and trust me 1.1 and 1.2 are MAJOR updates) it will almost always require a reboot. I've had the same problem of buttons missing, though rebooting every so often does fix it, and it also helps with keeping your computer nice and fast....

Actually this happened to me once and never repeated again, my turn button disapeared and I thought the game jammed or something so I reloaded and it didn't work and then I restart the game and everything was fine.

So how exactly do I fix this problem. I get it too. It is annoying to have to save and relaod the game after every turn; I find that research that is only a week away from completion NEVER gets done because I have to reload after every turn.

So what is the solution here? I do not want to reload the game all the time,I do not wish to restart the computer everytime. I read all the previous posts and I see nothing new.

Here are some more details:

I tried restarting but I still lose the turn button after my second turn and it is almost always that way after I reload. The game is in its fifth year and I am playing on challenging with 6 races remaining on a gigantic map. It seems that in previous games, once it reaches around five years, I lose the turn button. I use to start a new map but I do not want to do that every time the game starts getting good. I did have the demo before I bought the full version and I am wondering if this could be the problem: did not the demo only give you 5 years and then quit?

There is no point in saving and reloading because no production is done on the first week back in the game and how can I fulfill my maglomania if I can't make any ships? Spacebar and enter do not work in getting the game to move on.

I hope someone has figured out what to do.

Are you playing with the CPU-Intensive Algorithms thing?
I got a couple turns in to the game were the stars are carved and taken and after a point it got to were i had to reboot to get the computer to ****ing get to my turn.
I'm guessing this is the computer calculating and designing or something...

No CPU thingy. I relaunched my game and was able to do a few more turns. I am thinking that there was a corrupt ship or something and when it was destroyed, I got my turn thing back. But of course, the game crashed.

I have noticed that if I have a rally point and then move it before all the ships get there, I lose the turn button.

If I knew where the saved games are kept, I would post the game and hopefully someone can reproduce the problem.

It clearly is a bug. It was bugging me in the previous version and it still is bugging me in this current version.

I played the game of a few more turns without a problem. But this ugly problem showed up after I told my ships to go to a different rally point in mid turn. Before, they all were moving to Point A with no problem. Point A was no longer useful for me as I conquered the planets and created a new rally point, Point B. After using the govenor to order all the ships that were going to A are now to go to B, the game centered on the next ship to move and it did not move. I could see that the govenor was successful in ordering the ship to the new rally point and it just would not move automatically. It still had all of its moves left and I was able to manually move the ship to the correct spot. I had to do this for every remaining ship.

So what happens next. Nothing. The turn button is gone and I cannot end the turn. Enter and spacebar do nothing. I am now forced to reload the game and when it starts again, I lose a weeks worth of production, taxes and research.

So I now I have confirmed one way of producing the bug, I think that there may be others. I only recently started using rally points in this game and moving them causes problems. But I was getting this lose of turn button before the rally point issue. I do not know what are the other triggers. Possibly a corrupt ship, or something.

My question is, HOW do I end my turn and continue this game when the turn button is gone and spacebar or s or the enter keys do not work?

It looks like all the people that want to flame others when they disagree go away when someone is honestly having a problem and is sincerely trying to fix it. Sorry mypen, I wish I could help but I have not played much lately and have never seen your problem. Try posting your debug.err file. You can find it in your GalCiv2 main directory. It will probably be something like \Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 on whatever drive you installed the game on. You can do a search for the file using windows if necessary. It is a text file and you can post it in here. If very long, post the first part with the details of your system and the last 20 or so lines of the end and maybe someone can help.

I have this problem as well. After reloading a save gae, it will play ok for a turn or three. Then ships will stop moving and the turn button will vanish.
