Starship "Extras"

Does anyone know whether or not the "extras" (jewelry pieces, I guess) that you use in designing way cool (or way uncool, depending on your mood) ships increases the build time, or is the build time only determined by the tech levels of the ship?

In correct English, Byram says that extras do not cost any extra production. The cool thing is that you can attach so many extras that a tiny hull can look like a huge hull, but it's still a tiny hull, and will be produced as such.

Your PC will take a hit in performance though. Launching a ship from orbit or creating /disbanding a fleet will lag a second or two depending on how intricate the design is. By no means a game breaker, but you may notice it.

Extras are for cosmetic benifit only, They only add hardpoints and looks to a ship.
