Invasion that destroys planetary quality? Permanent???

If someone invades my world doing a tactic that destroys planetary quality, and then loses, can those tiles ever come back or is the planet quality reduced forever?

Maybe someone can invade a planet, destroy quality, give planet to enemy, re-invade, and repeat until the planet is unusable?

as far as i know, the loss in PQ only happens if the invader wins.

but yes, if a planet swaps hands enough times a planet can be pretty much reduced to being useless.

If it fails, no damage is done. This was made to avoid planetary bombardment cheese, use one troop to make a planet useless.

Yes, your second tactic can be done. Although it's easier to just invade the planet, get all your people off, then destroy the colony. It reduces PQ, and means you don't waste troops.

That's why I like to use mini-soldiers.

Of course, it introduced another chesse.

Like do some super powerful invasion tactic, but with not enough troops.
You lose and kill lots of enemies.

Then use clean invasion tactic and get planet with no loss in PQ or buildings.

War tactics come in many flavors - softening up the target, followed by a real invasion .. .where have we seen that before?

Yes, mini-soldiers are great ... if you have that tech.

War does not always wait until I have all my fav techs though...

Often I am forced into battle with marines and mass driver tech...
...and have left some beat-up worlds in my wake...
I like the #4 p22 plan - New Invasion Strat
Oh yeah !!!!

Sutt, The last one in the line gives it.

Bryam, I found all but humans and the human-look-alikes (Ant-something?) are war-crazy. Nobody else wants to tech up. They just want to war really early.

Mek,

I have seen only the Dreng and Yor tech to storm troopers ...

The Arceans, Alts etc ... seem to just use mass low tech invasions.

So on this forum say planet invasions are too easy... maybe in late game ...
... with all trooper techs ... but in mid-game - it can be a gruesome business !!!!

I've seen the Arceans research all the way up the invasion line, to the point that they were building troop ships with 3 adv troop mods. An AI with a bunch of NLCs is scary.......

I always go for the whole invasion branch at once--the techs are pretty cheap to research (except for that very first one, of course), and the soldiering bonuses you accumulate give you a pretty sizeable advantage.

As for tactics, I usually go for Information Warfare--since it weakens the enemy, strengthens you, and leaves you with more population on the planet when you win--but when morale on the target world is high, I go for Mini Soldiers.

ALL of the Troop TEck UpGrades are GREAT ...

They make Planet Battles - more Sucessful !!!!

BUT - I have found in practical, game in-progress situations ...
To be NOT always possible ...
I am often FORCED to FIGHT with watt I got ...
... AND ... in my games this often means ...
VERY bloody and difficult battles ...
WHICH ... by the way
I LOVE !!!!!

Planet invasion battles RULE the game ...

They really, really don't. Two lines of soldiers run at each other shooting. It's one of the least developed areas of the game, just a little more advanced than espionage.

I'm not complaining, they do their job. But they are really not the best part of the game.

Well , no118

I guess this is watt MAKES GC2 so good ...

... at this point in my career as a Terran Officer...
--> PLANET Invasion is my PRIME assignment ...
Snd IT is a TUFF one ...

Hey , good to ALL in thier jobs ....

i think that planets shouldget ruffed up by any invansion (think about it, it hurts you because you can't use it)
but its minor damage (like 80% less damage) eventually it would become too tedious to keep bombing a planet just to destroy it, and any smart AI would shoot the transports before they hit. anyone have ideas about fixing Planetary damage?(tiles that are destroyed by war, but can be fixed by some tech-Japan after being totaled by the US was eventually rebulit into a develpment paradise)

...Huh?

Lowa, my best guess is that you're complaining about the damage being permanent. My answer to THAT, if so, is to take the Green Thumb feat at the start of the game, which will allow you to repair some of the damage (sort of). Also, you CAN rebuild buildings, but I assume that's not what you're talking about.

Besides, we're talking about orbital bombardment here. Japan getting nuked is a terrible example--this is literally more like the death of the dinosaurs. That we can use the planet at all is a testament to our skill and technology.

Edit: Also, I totally do the thing where Obrital Bombardment is used to during an intentionally failed invasion to soften up the defenders before using mini soldiers in a real invasion with fewer troops needed. Hee hee.

People live in Hiroshima and Nagisaki now. Umm.. I wonder are the tiles ever upgradable? I've seen some planets that start out at the same class, but strangely one can be upgraded more and the other is mostly ocean (no there's not ethical choice stuff that did it).
