Support for Vista?

Does this game have support for Vista? I just bought the game, and want to know if it will work on the Windows Vista Beta. If it doesn't, will there be a patch that will make it support Vista? I don't want to have to install XP again, unless I have to.

Some of the devs are running it just fine, while users have reported it as hit and miss. It really just depends on your hardware and how good the vista drivers (if they're even available yet) are at this point.

The key that I found is that instead of using Autorun to start the installer, and instead of launch the GalCiv2.exe program from the CD, just run Setup.exe directly. That installed and the game seemed to start up fine. I then downloaded Stardock central and upgraded to 1.2 beta. I have not tried running it, but I know it at least installed and started to run. The only issue I had was the autorun refused to run (crashed).

I tried it, and it ran really slowly, so now I'm using XP, and it runs fine. It is a bit annoying, that I had to uninstall Vista, so if a patch ever makes it completely compatible, then I'll install Vista again.

jared798: vista uses a different class of video driverse, make sure your video card is running 'real drivers' (not the ones included with vista) or your 3d performance will really, really suck I also couldn't get the autorun to work, but using setup.exe directly I got the game to install - and with proper video drivers it is running just fine. I'm running Vista Beta 2 (build 5384.4) on an XPS Gen 2 laptop with an NVidia 6800 Go Ultra (and native Nvidia drivers (88.61), which I had to hack a little bit to get to install). Enk

jared: You should *NEVER* install a beta OS as anything other than a dual boot. Beta = buggy, and potentially not complete by definition.

You guys with Vista do understand it's a beta, right? Never use a beta OS as your only machine. I was cringing when I read "didn't want to install XP again". Yikes.
