Hollow planets

I am running on an English XP system. I the game ran fine initially, then I updated my audio drivers to correct a problem with another application. Now All the planets are hollow circles, and the ship 2D icons, instead of the 3D models they use to be. I tried to make all the adjustments mentioned in the European problem. Has anyone found a solution on this problem for english systems?

Try adjusting the slider in interface options labeled "Tactical View Zoom Level". It sounds like you simply adjusted it all the way to one end, causing it to be always on regardless of zoom level (by default the map switches to 'icon' mode only when you zoom pretty far out).

zoom in

what you see is the tactical view, its a quite useful feature.

to zoom in, rotate the wheel in the direction facing away you. I don't know how to zoom if you don't have a wheel, so you'd have to figure that out if necessary.

I've also got the hollow planets now, since I upgraded to Beta 2. My ships are still normal and 3D though, so it isn't the tactical view.

That was indeed the problem. I had the tactical zoom set to 100. Setting it back to 50 brought the planets and ships to normal. Thanks for the replys.
