Ship Design Suggestion - Mirroring

I love the ship designer.. I can spend hours creating ships and never finish a game heheh

One thing that I find frustrating is that once I get one side just right, I try to do the same on the other side of my ship and it doesn't always line up on the first try. I'd like to see something that allows one to place a part on a hull, size it, etc and then click mirror and it'll place the same part on the other side of the hull in the same location etc thereby speeding up the design process.

Just a thought

OOOOOhhhhhh Good Idea.

Lets use the power of the computer to save us labor.

Yah it's a great idea, although I enjoy making non-symmetrical designs, it certainly would be handy!

Now if only all the jewelry was actually properly symmetrical, nothing like having engine mounts off by 5 degrees

How about wings that are off ten degrees?

very good thoughts, even tho i don't use the extras much, but it would be nice to just work half a ship, hit mirror, then, BAM!, get to see what it looks like done, or make a dirent side, ect.

It frustrates me soooo much. I’ve even stoped using some components because they can’t be used symmetrically; one example is the thin triangular wings on the Terran style. They flip 180 degrees on either side, and it’s not possible to reverse it. This indeed should be fixed. But for the other things, like components off by a couple of degrees, just set the rotation to freely and rotate away!

That is all.

Really good idea... I'm obsessed with symmetry so it drives me crazy when I can't get things to line up.

Yeah, exactly. I'd love to see this idea implemented.

I actually had a problem with a pair of wings on a fighter. Despite picking out a plasma at the same size, the one on the left wing would be bigger than the right. When I took the weapons off and looked at the hardpoints from above, I could see that the arrows on one wing were bigger than on the other. The cure was to resize one of the wings a notch down and then back up, the hardpoints became the same size and I could mount the plasmas without them looking lopsided
