GalCiv2 and WIndows Vista?

Has anyone tried it yet?

Has anyone tried this yet? I managed to get the beta download from MS (They are out of keys, sorry). I am just wondering if anyone has tried this on the new OS and if they were able to play the game. I am going to be installing it this weekend and I wanted to know if GalCiv2 will work for me. If not, I will wait till I finish my current game.

I downloaded the Beta and it works fine. Be sure you update all your drivers as this could be a machine crippling install if you don't. It actually works pretty good. Galciv2 and Galciv both worked flawlessly.

Both versions 1 and 2 of the Vista beta don't get along with me, then again I tend to give them a serious workout, and Microsoft operating systems don't take to that very well.

Ha windows Vista, why doesnt MS fix XP's security holes FIRST!

Because they can't...

Vista is an attempt by M$ to write an OS without all the flaws that make XP unfixable. Fat chance!

Because Xp is an upgrade of 2000, which was an upgrade of 98, which was an upgrade of 95. Thats why the holes won't fix. No-one remembers how. Vista is something NEW, so they're trying to make it work.

And the game has always been listed as Vista compatable.

Win2k was not an upgrade from 98, it was the upgrade from NT.

ít runs un vista, but the map scrolling and zooming is rather slow (normal and strategic view), although the graphics in the ship designer are really fast and CIV 4 is running well.

I'm running on nforce2 and GT6800 ith latest beta drivers. Anyone out there, who can play with a smooth map???

Made some interesting observation about the Perfromance on vista:

The game runs smooth like a charm on Vista Beta 2 if you hide the content area !

It seems like that the minipap itself causes some problems on vista/nvidia.
But if you disable it it runs really great...
