Laser V size:10

What the hell is going on?!?!?!?

Well, I don't know if this is a miniaturization bug or something, but on a massive hull a laser V is size 10. However, on a tiny hull, the Laser V is sive 5. WHAT IS GOING ON? Of course your probobly saying why put Laser Vs on a Massive hull. Well, I'm not, but I just noticed it. A massive hull is nerfed by this. In fact, all weapons are around twice the size they are on tiny. So the bottom line is: Why is it like this ;p

Sizemod.

A laser V has a base size of 4, and a sizemod of 5%. So it takes up 5% of your ship, and then an additional 4 size.

I think the size of weapons and other stuff becomes bigger with type of ships.
So Ion-drive for example is much smaller at a tiny hull than at a cargo hull.

The reason that weapons grow in size as they get placed on larger hulls is not a function of being "realistic" it's a function of balance. Larger hull sizes have more hit points, and can carry higher concentrations of firepower (for overwhelming defences) if weapons remained the same size, the entire game would be about rushing to larger hulls so you could mount rediculous numbers of weapons, and small ships would then suffer from being slower as well as having lower attack/defence/hitpoint values, because engines scale quite quickly too.

Most weapons, from what i see, dont have that much of a difference. Like a few i've seen as a size of 10 in a tiny ship then a size of 11 on a huge ship. It all depends on the weapon.

It is wierd though, you would think if the weapon is larger that it would do more damage or something. Their is no sense to it if its larger but with no other difference.

Engines being larger I can see, because they have to generate more thrust/warp field/whatever to affect a larger mass, but weapons don't affect the ship they are placed on, they affect that ship's target.

I would like to see the engine class used to affect the weapons damage ability as well. Face it you have a warp core that you can pull power from to get that extra 3 pts of damage. get a tiny ship with laser 1 and a great egine and you have a 5 pts damage ability same for the shielding as well. The more power you have the better it should be. This is where the tech tree issue comes into play where you need something from this branch and something from that branch to create a new weapon or defense or specialty thing..

One complaint I have is that larger engines should be much larger on bigger ships- it would balance them out some. Perhaps an additional size/cost penalty for extra engines on a ship? This would help to nerf superfast ships.
