Who would like to see Racial Bonuses be locked?

I am a big fan of Gal Civ II, but one thing that has disappointed me about Galciv II is that the races are for the most part generic, simply giving you the ability to customize them with whatever bonuses you see fit. While some may prefer this route, i would actually prefer them to have locked abilities unique to each race. It would be great if there was an option to retain the free for all customization for those who prefer the current system, but I think having locked abilites would add a greater amount of distinction between the races and make them more interesting overall.

If Stardock could deliver on this, as well as an in game clock ala Civ IV, they can count on my continued patronage indefinitely!

I believe you can already play each race with default abilities. Changing some of the abilities is an option.

You can "lock" their abilities by not touching anything on the race customization screen.

Or better yet, set the race files in your My Documents file to read-only. You can still change the values in game when setting up your race, but when you go back to the race screen they will be back to default again.

To get the default race files back if you have messed them up, just delete them. The game will re-generate new ones on start.

Race files are names "CurrentCustomRaceX" in "

Does anyone know if the AI gets the bonuses that the player sets for a race?

For example, if I start a game with each race and reset their abilities to 0 bonuses, will the AI receive 0 bonuses if I start a new game without setting them back to normal?

One vote for racial bonuses locked! Been talking about since day one of GC2 retail release.

Gotta add bit more specifically. I would like to see the special racial bonuses locked. Example (if I remember correctly) Humans have +20 diplomacy bonus, I would like this to be locked. You can customize the civilization enought with abilities points or create a custom race entirely.

The problem with simply locking the default abilities as they stand today is that they are very uneven. Some civs use up the full ten points worth of abilities, some use much less.
