Want more meat

I would like to see more "stuff" in the espionage/spying section:

- spies getting killed (espionage level falls - need additional time and money to get back to the previous level)
- counter-espionage
- finding out about plans for a major offensive
- in Star Democracies and higher, opposition parties defecting/leaking info that might hamper the player's party (this might be difficult)

- assassination (on both sides)
- directed espionage - stealing specific research/data.

I figure in some of the above situations there can be a (secret agent) screen similar to the ground offensive screen, where the player tries to push the button when the combat odds are the greatest (this of course can be augmented by the previous successes of the Agent)

The espionage system is one of the areas that is more likely to be changed in an expansion pack rather than a free patch.

Some say enhanced diplomacy and espionage is going to be part of the next expansion which might be released in fall. I would certainly love to see it.

MOO3's espionage is good, but I think the best espionage for a 4X game would be from an older game call Pax Imperia 2: Eminent Domain (At least I think that was a subtitle, if it even had one). The only downside about the espionage was that it required much more money to get it up and going well.

Every planet could be assigned a governer and you could assign leaders for your government. These leaders could be assasinated with espionage, or bought out to actually hinder production.

Counter-Espionage was there as well, just not really affective in my opinion since it was easy to sabotage on a massive scale towards the end of a game.

You could also steal techs, maybe ships even. Cause planets to riot, probably even damage relations between other empires.

I am not 100% sure about all of that since it's been so long since I've played it.

I would love to have opportunities, like in BotF, to undermine the good relations between 2 other races...
