Attacking a planet

What is the logic that the attacker always has an advantage?....Like 25 vs. 6, or what ever? Wouldnt it make sense that the defender has the advantage? I can attack with half the troops, and win solely because of the "advantage."

Hi!
Because you can see from above where defending troops are hiding, and act appropriately (bomb them into oblivion ).

"Air Superiority". Since your craft control the skies, you have a severe tactical advantage in the form of air strikes and being able to rapidly move your soldiers to where they need to be. The advantage of the defenders is in their numbers, since it's not often that the attackers outnumbers the defenders (though it does happen occasionally).

Can you imagine trying to load 2 times the population of the target planet into transports?

Often the attacker has a technology and soldiering advantage.

Not sure how that works.

Actually, I have done this many times. A huge hull loaded with one engine and advanced troop transports with some miniaturization. I think it help 11000 troops, but I dont remember.
