Product Activation Problems

I'im having a problem. I had to send in an email in order to get my game activated and it sent me a file i'm suppose to download.

"Attached to this email message is a SIG.ZIP file with the SIG.BIN
license key for your application.

Please extract the sig.bin from the attached zip file to the
application directory and restart the app.

You can backup this sig.bin file with the application and use it to
activate that app in the future under this particular Windows
installation. If you reinstall Windows on this computer or attempt to use the
SIG.BIN file on another Windows install (on a different machine), you will
be prompted to reactivate. "

I have no clue where i'm suppose to extract the sig.bin to. I know it said Application Directory but where the bloody hell is it?

Can anyone help me? I'v been really looking forward to playing this game and I'm getting more and more annoyed with the delay...

The sig.bin file needs to go in the same directory as GalCiv2 is installed in. Usually this is C:\Program Files\StarDock\GalCiv2 or C:\Program Files\StarDock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 by default (depending if you got it retail or download).

Thank you for the information.

Now i'm having a slight problem it tells me the file is Password Protected... so i used my password to get it going and then another thing pops up.

"File 'sig.bin' is either a read only, system, or hidden file. Would you like to replace the existing file." Yes, Yes To All, No, Cancel.

I just hit Yes to all and the password screen pops up again... nothing looks like it was DLed or anything...

If the email attachment is password protected, that would be a question for Stardock. More specifically, if you can log in to the Chat section of SDC and go to the GalCiv channel (type /join #GalCiv), you may be able to get ahold of MilkSama who IIRC is in charge of the activation emails.
