Great Game Comes to an early end

First I know I made the mistake... But I am really bummed that I did not turn off Tech victory before playing this amazing Giagantic Masocistic 9 alien game. Things are just getting really exciting and even though I am not winning I kind of want to play it out, but the Torians are about to win by Tech. I suggest a few things for this problem.
1) Get the Tech win, but if you win it have an option to play out the game instead of just ending This could go for all types of victories.
2) have a way to disable the victory mid game... I know it is sort of cheating, and I do not think this should be an option for Metaverse but I am dying to know what might have happened if...

Any feed back, or even solutions. Maybe there is something I don't know

hmm, i guess if you look in the savegame file (notepad) it might help, half of it is half nonsense half the time, ut you may stumble across it, use find, then search for a technology along the tech tree, oh, have you tried wiping them out, i mean if you have high espionage them just look for their tech planet and boom, and try to get others to wage war on them, the cost of war will drain their tech.

Absolutely. I have quit several GC2 great games because I forgot to change the victory settings. It really put me off about the whole game. That is not fair to the game, but nonetheless that is how I felt.

What a humor! Seems really curious. I have seen too much about that.

It's new in 1.2.

I agree with the idea for an option to keep going after winning/loosing a tech/influence/alliance victory.

You should know the moment before you hit the "turn" button that the next screen is going to say "Victory" (Diplomacy Victory, for example) b/c you have just made an alliance with the last civ. That is where you save the game. After your win, go back to "Load" and at the top of the screen it will say "endgame." The "save game" will be the one just before that. So, load it up and keep playing. Hope that made sense or addressed your post????

I did not know that AI could only win military before. Shoulda read the F manual I guess. What I really was wanting was to win tech in order to take it away from the AI so it was not an option for them, but then go ahead and choose not to win this way. This way you could win a game several different ways all in one game
ie Win tech then make alliances and then culturally dominate. I do like the idea of backing up and playing out a diffeerent senario, but I kind of like the idea of winning two or three ways all in one massive package.

So let me get this straight. before 1.2 the AI would simply be attempting to kill all others? There have been several games in which my first motive was to claim 25% so that no one could culturally dominate and win, but I guess that was not the case.

I once forgot to turn off the influence victory. I was told that in 10 turns I would
win the game. I was bummed. I wanted a military victory.

Luckily by declaring war on one of the AIs, I learned I could not win an influence
victory by being at war.

Too bad there's no easy way to turn off the tech victory.

Part of the problem is that the initial screen does not always remember your
previous victory conditions. Sometimes it does, sometimes not.

I always check now. But it still possible to make a mistake.

There should be an option to keep going regardless of the type of victory.

Do you notice that your life is full of these matters?

OH, you enjoy an endless game! Sure?
