Transports and Hull types

Can't use anything but a cargo hold?

This really had me mad.I decided to upgrade my transport's to give them added troop space . shields and faster engines. I went with a Large Hull type ,Instead of a cargo hold. my ship had a 20 move per turn speed and defenses against the most common weapon type, in addition to carrying 2000 troops. Off i headed to the unfortunate planet I was going to invade and then i found out the hard way, The game will not let you invade a planet with A ship without a cargo Hull type . it must have assumed My design was not A transport ship,Because I could not invade the planet! I thought this may have been a bug so i made a regular transp[ort and went to the planet with that instead and Viola I could Invade.WHy the Heck can I not use any Hull I want ,the game allows me to put a troop module on a large hull . But will not let me use it, LAME!!!!!

I never use a cargo hull for troop transports, usually a small hull with the advanced troop modules.

whatever it is, its a bug, because i commonly shove troop transports onto tiny hulls and pack it with engines, they work fine for me all the time, so whatever it is, it must have been a bug or something, i love my tiny hulled transports they are awesome, so id investigate further if i were you

Perhaps this only occurs on larger hulls or only occurs when invading minor races. I will mess around and see what I find. You are correct. the hull itself is not the problem. i was able to construct transports on Ytiny, small, medium, large, and huge hulls and invade a major race. but I was not able to Invade a minor race. yet I had no problems using a basic transport . so something must be going on with minor races and their planets

it should not make a difference at all. I routinely build a huge ship with 5000 troops on board and deck it out with shredder tech and take over any planet major or minor. it's tough enuff to pick off the ships 1 by 1 generally. Doesn't need defenses generally. Add to the fact that I get upto about 79% soldiering bonus and there is no problem taking a planet.

It is not actually taking the planet which is a problem. It is being able to get to the invasion screen. I know all about soldiering and such. but none of that matters if the game will not allow me to move my ship onto the planet. I have had success with tiny, small, medium, large, and huge hulltypes when invading a major races planets, but some games I cant for the life of me move my new transports built from the largest hulltype onto a minor races planet,Yet I can move A normal transport onto it .So what does that have to do with soldiering,NOTHING! there is something going on here so if you arent part of the solution then do not bother adding a comment cause it does not help this situation at all. Maybe if you try to fiddle around with the largest hulls and minor races, using both normal and advanced troop modules you would experience it also. I do have the latest version of the game and I play on metaverse games.
