Anyone else recognize where this game came from?

I remember an MPOG--in the late 90's, I think--with just the Arceans, Drengins, Terrans and Pirates. I didn't recognize this game as sharing that one's origins until I started playing; I recognized the Arceans and Drengins. I wonder if there's a way to convince anyone to go back to a more action-oriented game, maybe a 3-D combat starship simulator type with realistic physics. Does anyone know if that old MPOG still exists? I'd like to play it again.

I remember that game well... it was steller frontier, a 2d starship simulator that was quite fun actualy. I played that game for hours but i eventualy started playing other games and once i had got my computer formatted and went to get it back i noticed stardock no longer serviced that game. There have been a few mentions of where it went but no one had talked of reviving it or why it had been taken down.

From what I gather, Stardock are planning to open-source it (And subsequently make it totally free), But seeing as nothing has happened with it for ages - I guess its low priority to them.
