Interesting but funny glitch

I declared war on the Altarians so I could get more territory. Their ally was the Drath.
Because of my declaring war on the Altarians, the Drath went to war with me.

The thing is, my military was the most powerful in the galaxy. Nearly 3 times that of the Drath.

The very turn that they declared war on me, the Drath contacted me asking for assistance against the Glonn. I was the Glonn. When I said no, they said, "I hope you know that you are next."

So I'm going to conquer myself.... Hmmmmmm....

Don't stop there go seek out the rebels and gerilla's too.

Gerillas? Is that a joke or an actual race?

Wait, do you mean animals or gerilla warfare?

How do you spell gerilla/guerilla?

I think the Snathi are my favorite race. They're just too funny. And they wiped out the Drath almost on my current game.

GUERILLA like to attack insurgents in there home country..

If you wish to kill other primates do so at your own discreasion and beware of there awsome muscular abilities...

lol. Can you make a custom race(other than the one you use)? I mean like a mod for a custom enemy. If you can, I have a great idea.

Thanks to El Conquest of course.

Just like a guerilla

Ok, so I want to make a Gorilla race. Planet of the Apes! I could replace the Humans with Gorillas on post-nuclear-war Earth. Or they could be a minor race. That would be easier, if it's even possible.

You can edit the races through the RaceConfig.xml in the \Data\English\ folder of your GalCiv2 directory. You can edit it with notepad, or a similar basic text editor.

Yes, this has gone off topic to a... ummm... interesting side path. But that's ok.

I'm going to see if I can edit the script and make the Snathi become gorillas. I don't know what to do about the picture though. That would be harder than anything else.(I'm horrible at portraits, even if it's of an ape.) I might change what they say to something like Alfb mentioned.

Thanks Reveilled. I'll try that tonight. I'm on a library computer now as I have no internet at home.

You can't turn a squirrel into a gorilla. The mass index just isn't right. You could maybe genetically engineer a five-assed squirrel, but gorillas are right out.

What about guerilla squirrels, you ask? They are all too real. They are the reason the winter birds in my neighborhood are emaciated by the time Spring arrives.

The reason I originally wanted to post in this thread is to point out that diplomatic... er, mishaps like the one above are not unique to Galactic Civ. (Though that one is pretty funny.) Several times while playing Rome: Total War, I was approached by neutral factions' diplomats who would say "Please do not attack us!" in the request portion of the dialog, followed by the condition "Accept or we will attack!" There were worse exchanges that I no longer remember clearly. It must be incredibly hard to program these things for realistic, accurate dialog. My hat's off to Stardock for both their sense of humor in the dialog threads and for the fact that, whatever shortcomings there may be, the diplomacy is still way ahead of anything I've seen in other games.

Ok, lets come back topic. Yesterday the Arceans decided to wipe me out of galaxy. One turn later, the Korx said they will provide me with some of their best ships to help me against the Arceans.

Two more turns and the Korx told me "We know what you are doing" and declared war on me, because they had given me some troop transport as a present which I forgot (for one round!) to move into my own territory ...

Thanks a lot, at this stage I wasn't strong enough to fight both of my neighbors.

They gave you a ship? I alsways have to destroy half of someone's ships and then demand that they give me the one that I want before they will accept.

Ex. The Yor had a Precursor ranger that they had found. It was early in the game so it was still an ultimate powerhouse. I asked them for it but they would not sell it. I had to destroy 52 ships and capture 3 planets before they finally gave it to me for 500bc.(after we made a peace treaty)

The next turn they surrendered to the Arceans, who then surrendered to the Drath, who are about to be killed by me. You'd think that they would surrender to someone who actually has a chance.(I customized each race's intelligence to Intelligent or greater.)

Just use them to replace one of the minors in > C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Gfx\Race

Then edit the raceconfig file using a text editor and name one of the minors to suit.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the image. I've already replaced the Akilians. The thing is, I want to give them custom dialog and ships. The dialog I know how to do, but the ships, man I'm bad at that. I guess the Akilian ships will have to do for now. Anybody have a name for them besides Gorillas? I'm thinking Gorillons but that's kind of cheesy.
