Crash while starting new game

Iv just updated to v 1.11 and downloaded the collectors edition parts too. The game starts up fine, lets me pick my race and other stuff but while the game loads, it crashes to desk top. It worked fine before the patch. I have checked my drivers and I have the latest ATI Catalyst 6.4 drivers installed.

Any ideas?

Please post your debug.err file. This can be found in your galciv2 program folder. (usually c:\program files\stardock\totalgaming\galciv2 )

Please download and install SmartException from Stardock Central.

Run SmartException, then run Galciv2. When it crashes, SmartException will generate a report that you can email to us at [email protected]. This report will tell us where it is crashing.

For more information on SmartException, please see this link:

I think I have solved th problem. As part of my usual antivirus and spyware scans, I found a trojan in the system and somthing calling itself Backdoor.Haxdoor.in, I finaly traced it to a registry key and once I deleted I fired up the game ready to get the crash report to email to stardock. To my total supprise the game loaded first time!

Try running a virus check, if you dont have one try AVP as its free and is very good. I am also trying out a 15 day trial of a program called Ewido anti-malware which is gave me the path of the file, and the registary key that needed to be deleted.
